And so the zombie massacre trend continues; Gameloft releases “Zombiewood”

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 03:02 PM PDT

Sick of zombie shoot-em-up games yet? Well, lets hope not as one more has just came out thanks to Gameloft by the name of Zombiewood. The game is free, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a “freemium.” Game looks simple enough, it’s an over-view type and you shoot up as many zombies as you can as they swarm around you on each level.

Kind of reminds me of SNES’s classic “Zombies Ate My Neighbor.” That’ll probably always be my lifelong favorite zombie game. If any of you all remember that, then kudo points for you! Hit up the break for a short video about Gameloft’s Zombiewood and a QR code for download!

Samsung shows off 3 more videos showing the power of S-Beam that are quite hilarious and convincing [Video]

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 02:01 PM PDT

We’ve all got to love these Samsung videos touting the great features of their Galaxy S III, right? They’re at it again with 3 all-new videos showcasing their beautiful 4.8″ SAMOLED screen and of course, the beautiful features of S-Beam.

First off we have a video showcasing S-Beam where the girls playlist is instantly transferred to the guys (and saves the date at the same time). Second we have a video clearly showing the advantages of Samsung’s innovative 4.8″ SAMOLED screen that clearly outshines the other guys device (looks like an iPhone). And last but not least, we have another video showcasing S-Beam that shows how quickly and effortlessly one can transfer videos to another S III, but in this case Samsung went a little beyond PG-13 and implied a sex tape being transferred. Well, can’t hurt to show its possibilities, right?

Enjoy the videos after the break! And comment below on what you think about them.

FCC clears 3G version of Nexus 7; Perhaps just in time for Google’s October 29th event?

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 01:49 PM PDT

Looks like the FCC has cleared the 3G version of Google’s ASUS made tablet in the Nexus 7. Most likely just in time for its official outing during next weeks October 29th event held by Google. The Asus-made tablet will don the model number of ME370TG.

Rumors of a proposed 3G version of the Nexus 7 has been circulating around the net for about 2 months now, so this isn’t much of a surprise that it has finally passed through the FCC. For those that haven’t gotten themselves a Nexus 7 yet, will this finally push you to get one?

Featured Play Store Newbie: Crazy Machines GoldenGears THD [Brain & Puzzle]

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 12:25 PM PDT

The award winning Crazy Machines has finally made its way to the Google Play Store, and some Tegra 3 enhancements came along for the ride. Crazy Machines was developed by Fakt Software and published by Viva Media. It’s a “Rube Goldberg” style puzzle game where you experiment and build wacky contraptions with some really cool physics action and a healthy dose of explosives and fire.

To give you idea of some of the issues you will need to solve, you might need to figure out how to get a wind-up mouse to the other side of the room. You could use nitro, a boxing glove, dynamite, or who knows what else. Other examples include figuring out a way to free a pinball trapped in the magnetic waves of a magnet, ignite dynamite without exploding the combustible nitros near it, and moving a balloon in zero gravity without popping it. There are 60 different parts in your inventory and each puzzle can be solved in a completely unique way. The possibilities are endless.

If you’re lucky enough to own a Tegra 3 device you will get enhancements such as dynamic shadows, enhanced bloom and volumetric fog effects along with greater pixel density and particle effects.

FEATURES

  • Up to 42 challenges.
  • Use your creativity to master levels and earn 3 stars.
  • Cool Physics engine with fire, wind, gravity and particle effects.
  • Build and solve experiments with over 60 different Parts.
  • Share scores and unlock achievements through Openfeint.

Halloween-themed Dead Trigger update hits the Store, brings new arena and pumpkin-headed zombies

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 12:00 PM PDT

Halloween is one of my personal favorite times of year. First-person video games are another of my favorite things. Unsurprisingly, the latest update to Dead Trigger is right up my alley. The update to the zombie-filled, first-person shooter brings a new Haunted Graveyard arena as well as a new weapon – the crossbow. It also looks like you can grab the minigun at a reduced price, and you can use that amazing piece of weaponry to test out the new rag-doll physics applied to the rolling pumpkin heads after you blast them off of the undead bodies. Get your Halloween-style frag on by clicking the link below.

Sprint rolling out Jelly Bean to the Samsung Galaxy S III beginning today

Posted: 25 Oct 2012 11:40 AM PDT

It seems like the majority of leaks we’re receiving lately have mostly come to fruition. Jelly Bean on Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III is no different. Yesterday we learned that the Galaxy S III on Sprint’s network could begin receiving Jelly Bean today. Today we can confirm that Sprint is the first U.S. carrier to bring Android 4.1.1 goodness to Galaxy S III owners. As a refresher, here are the benefits that 4.1.1 will bring to your device:

  • Google Now
  • Expandable notifications
  • Android Beam
  • Smarter widgets
  • Camera enhancements
  • Blocking Mode
  • AllShare Cast Wireless Hub compatibility
  • NFC One-Touch Pairing Support

Those enhancements and additions will be coupled with TouchWiz enhancements as well to provide a better experience for Galaxy S III users. The update will be of the over-the-air nature, so patience will be key here. Have you received your update yet? If so let us know how Jelly Bean performs on your Galaxy S III.

Sprint First U.S. Wireless Carrier to offer Jelly Bean to Samsung Galaxy S III Customers,

Rollout Starts Today

Today, Sprint became the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer the Android™ 4.1.1, Jelly Bean, update to its Samsung Galaxy S® III customers. The update began rolling out today and adds a host of new and enhanced TouchWiz® features, offering a faster, richer and more responsive device experience.

The update is available as an over the air update. When your Galaxy S III is eligible for the update, it will automatically download. Once the download is complete, you will be prompted to install the update. Installation will take a few minutes, and your device will be disabled during the installation process. It will be ready to use when the process is complete.

Jelly Bean offers users a smoother, faster and more fluid experience with expanded feature functionality, including:

  • Google Now™ gets you just the right information at just the right time, like how much traffic to expect before you leave for work or when the next train will arrive as you're standing on the platform. Google Now can be launched by pressing and holding the menu key from the home screen.
  • Expandable, actionable notifications allowing you to take action directly from the notifications shade.
  • Android Beam™ now lets you send photos and more.
  • Widgets work like magic as you place widgets on the screen, everything else automatically moves to make room; when they’re too big, widgets resize on their own.

Samsung also added new capabilities to Galaxy S III, including:

  • Camera Enhancements:
  • New live camera and camcorder filters offer a range of new ways to spark your creativity. Warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights (blue, green, red/yellow), and many more are selectable from the main camera screen.
  • Pause and resume while recording video allows users to string together multiple captured video clips from a party, birthday, or sporting event into a single file with no post editing required.
  • Low light photo mode takes advantage of Galaxy S III's best-in-class High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities and offers an optimized mode for low light and indoor photos.

  • Pop Up Play Update easily resizes or pauses the Pop Up Play picture-in-picture video window, taking full advantage of Galaxy S III's powerful processor and large 4.8-inch display.
  • Easy Mode is a simplified user experience option for first-time smartphone owners, providing large home screen widgets that focus on the device essentials.
  • Blocking Mode can disable incoming calls, notifications, alarms and LED indicators for a designated period of time.
  • Improved Usability with access to multiple keyboard options and the addition of the Swype® keyboard.

With the Jelly Bean update, Galaxy S III will also add support for some exciting new accessories.

  • AllShare® Cast Wireless Hub allows users to wirelessly mirror their phone screen to any HDTV or HDMI® display. It even supports licensed content playback of premium TV and movies.
  • NFC One Touch Pairing Support pairs Galaxy S III with supporting NFC Bluetooth® accessories in a single touch.
