Pantech Magnus pic leaked, could be sign of upcoming announcement

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 10:28 AM PST

Over at @evleaks‘ Twitter, we’ve got a shiny new shot of the rumored Pantech Magnus, and it’s looking pretty solid. We covered the speculations awhile back, with specs such as Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 225 GPU, an HD display 720×1196 (720×1280 including menu), NFC support, and Bluetooth 4.0… but we still couldn’t look at the darn thing.

The supposed leak looks pretty convincing, and could signal that plans are now drawn up for announcing this mobile powerhouse. The device is also known as the Batsu P9090, and is expected to release on AT&T. Some may hem and haw at the carrier choice, but with benchmarks like these, can you really say no?

For now, we’ll have to hold to speculation  but we’re thinking this bad boy will be hitting the streets pretty soon. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Update to Google TV brings voice search, PrimeTime

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 08:54 AM PST

In Google’s latest slew of updates, Google TVs made by LG (followed by others) have gotten some new features. Google TV users will now enjoy voice search, which speaks for itself, and PrimeTime, the update to the TV and Movies app. According to Google:

Now called PrimeTime, the app makes it even easier to find your favorite content. Easily access PrimeTime anywhere in Google TV and browse for something new while you watch. You can quickly flip through the best stuff on live TV, access your favorite channels, see TV shows you recently watched, and find other suggestions based on what you enjoy watching.

As far as voice search is concerned, you can say commands like “CNN” to go straight to that channel, “Homeland” to see all live and streaming options for that show, or even search for phrases for Google search results. Check out the video below for full examples.

Android 4.2 won’t be officially supported on Xoom, Nexus S

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 07:38 AM PST

Those of you who own a Motorola Xoom or Samsung Nexus S will find that their respective devices will not see Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates. Well, in an official capacity, that is. A post on Google Groups tells us that 4.1.2 should be the last release of Android that is offered up for both products.

There is no support for 4.2 on Nexus S and Xoom. Those devices should
continue using 4.1.2.

While this might anger a few folks, it’s worth reminding that the hardware for both devices isn’t on par with the stuff from 2011 and 2012. At some point we have to accept the fact that memory, processor speeds, and other factors will determine whether a device gets future support.
