Acer V360 smartphone leak shows Jelly Bean and a 4.5-inch display

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 10:50 AM PST

Some recently leaked details are showing an Acer handset with Jelly Bean. The handset is the Acer V360 and while we have yet to see any official details, we have seen some specs. The handset has been rumored to arrive in the early part of 2013, however we obviously need further confirmation on that. Not to mention, we have yet to see anything in terms of where the V360 will launch.

Acer-V360-Leak

The details that we have so far are coming by way of the Japanese language Blog of Mobile. It looks like the V360 will arrive running Android 4.1 (as opposed to 4.2). But hey, at least it is Jelly Bean and not Ice Cream Sandwich. Other goodies look to include a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540) touchscreen and a dual-core 1GHz processor.

As you can see, the specs are not going to be over-the-top on this one. The remaining details call for 3G connectivity, a VGA quality-front facing camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a weight of 140 grams and measurements of 132.0 x 68.5 x 9.9 mm. Up until this point, the leaks have yet to mention anything in terms of RAM, the amount of internal storage or whether the handset will have a microSD card slot.

The V360 is expected to be available in two colors, black and white. Touching on the pricing rumors, it has been said that the handset will debut somewhere around $300. Of course, that would be a contract-free $300. That said, while not a high-end or super exciting device, we will keep an eye out for more details.

Box.net for Android increases file upload limit to 250MB

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 10:16 AM PST

One of the biggest complaints for many that opt to use Box.net cloud storage options over the competition (like Dropbox) is the file size limitations they have over file uploads. Now along with a completely redesigned and improved Box.net 2.0 for Android we have an increase to file limits and much more. Read on for more details.

box

Today Box is giving us a quick recap of their newest version 2.0 of their popular Android app. While the app has had previews before this is an entirely new experience. Previews will allow documents and over 75 different file types to be previewed without ever opening the file. This makes browsing files and documents on Android devices an absolute breeze.

Now for the good stuff. Box gives all users 5GB free out of the gate, but sadly they only allow 100MB file uploads. Something that many users have always complained about. Big changes are here because now they’ve more than doubled that. We now will be able to upload files up to 250MB in size with Box. Oh and don’t mind the poor photoshop skills in the photos below. The Galaxy S III does not have on-screen navigation keys.

Now I can host all my CM10 builds and Nandroid backups on Box.net because they’ll allow bigger file uploads. Good stuff guys! It appears that Box is aiming to have an even better 2013 than they did in 2012 by making these changes last minute. Oh and don’t forget all you LG owners (that includes the Nexus 4) get 50GB storage free with any LG device.

HTC One SV makes an appearance with the FCC

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 09:42 AM PST

HTC revealed the One SV smartphone earlier in the week and at that time, the handset was announced for one market, the UK. And while we have yet to hear anything otherwise from HTC, a recently discovered FCC filing suggest that a US release may be in the works. Of course, as easy as it is to think that, an FCC filing does not guarantee a US release.

htc-one-sv-fcc-filing

With the standard sounding warning out of the way, lets get into the details here. The HTC One SV FCC filing is showing approval for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC as well as WCDMA bands II and V and GSM bands 850 and 1900. There is one curious aspect to the filing though, while nothing specific was mentioned in terms of LTE approvals, a filing label does have the LTE branding included.

That bit brings back thoughts of another recent FCC filing, the one for the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE, which also left out the mention of LTE approval. Regardless, it looks like we may be seeing the One SV making another stop with the FCC before it makes its way to US carriers.

All said and done, assuming HTC is building towards a US release of the HTC One SV, we still need to learn the specifics. You know, the carriers and the pricing. Or for that matter, whether the One SV would end up falling into a contract or pre-paid arrangement.

ASUS Nexus 7 official dock unboxed and hopefully coming soon

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 09:40 AM PST

What we have for you this fine Friday afternoon is the first sighting of an official accessory for our beloved Nexus 7. Accessories and docks for Nexus devices have been a bit of a mystery in the past. We still never saw a few of those Galaxy Nexus options Samsung showed off, and we’ve been seeing mockups for the Nexus 7 for months. Today however it just got as official as ever. Take a peek below at the ASUS Nexus 7 dock.

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 9.25.36 AM

What we have here is an actual hands-on and unboxing of ASUS’ official Nexus 7 deck dock complete with the usual Nexus box design and more. From what we are seeing here it’s safe to say these accessories will be available from the Google Play Store extremely soon. Although it’s still anyone’s guess. We’ve seen leaks suggesting it would be available “early December” but we’re almost halfway through. Check it out:

According to what we’re hearing, this person was able to buy the ASUS Nexus 7 dock “a day early” at a retail outlet, so that sounds like it will become available tomorrow — at least in Japan. Just like all the previous leaks and rumors we have a nice desk dock with a 3.5mm audio out, as well as micro-USB for charging and syncing. The device simply uses those POGO pins for connection and charging, and appears to offer no video out options sadly.

So, from what we are seeing this is as legit as can be and Google/ASUS could start offering these up for sale extremely soon. Or just like most Nexus accessories they’ll remain a mystery. Either way I want one as long as it’s around $39.99 or less. Without HDMI-out options and such it really can’t be worth that much. Hopefully we find out more about this soon so stay tuned.

Samsung Galaxy Camera available at Verizon now

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 08:50 AM PST

One of the more interesting Android devices is the Samsung Galaxy Camera. There is a constant influx of tablets and phones hitting the market all the time, but a full-featured camera with Android installed; that’s something you don’t see everyday. Verizon made the release date of the Galaxy Camera known a couple of days ago, and now the device is available from the carrier.

galaxycamvzw

With the Verizon version of the Galaxy Camera, you get actual 4G data speeds, whereas AT&T offers HSPA+ speeds. This will let you upload those high-resolution photos to your social networks in the blink of eye. The device certainly does not come with a cheap price tag. Verizon has it listed for $549, but of course, it does not come with any kind of contract, so the price is not subsidized at all.

AT&T has the device listed on its website for $499. However, with Verizon you get a cheaper data plan, so that should make up for the extra cost over the long haul. You can add the camera to your Share Everything Data plan for just $5 a month, which is quite reasonable.

The Galaxy Camera is available both in store and on Verizon’s website. Make sure to check out our detailed review for a full breakdown of what the camera has to offer. It’s available now in the standard Pearl White as well as Verizon exclusive black.

Verizon Wireless holiday sale brings deals on several Android handsets

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 08:48 AM PST

Verizon Wireless seems to have kicked off their latest holiday sale. The sale includes discounts on a handful of Android smartphones as well as the option to score a free Droid RAZR in cranberry. Well, that is if cranberry colored smartphones are your thing.

verizon-wireless-logo

Anyway, in terms of the discounted handsets. This list includes the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, Droid RAZR M, RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD as well as the LG Lucid and the Pantech Marauder. Those last two, the Lucid and the Marauder are both free on a two-year agreement. And in terms of the discounts on those, this means a $20 savings on the Lucid and a $50 savings on the Marauder.

Moving back to the Droid branded handsets. Beginning first with the Incredible 4G LTE and the RAZR M, these are both $49.99 on a two-year agreement which means a $50 savings on both. The RAZR HD is $149.99 (down from $199.99) and the RAZR MAXX HD is $249.99 (down from $299.99). Of course, similar to the others, the RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD both assume a two-year agreement.

Finally, the deal on the cranberry Droid RAZR. This handset will be free for those who are also buying any Motorola Droid RAZR. All said and done, these are some decent discounts, however we suspect some shopping around may score you even lower prices. Regardless of where you choose to shop though, if you are looking for advice on any of these handsets — make sure to check our reviews.

Google+ rolling out huge update to its Android app

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 08:15 AM PST

The Google crew has been rather busy this holiday season, and they are wrapping things up with a nice update to Google+. The update adds all kinds of slick features to its Android application and it definitely a nice little holiday present from the Google+ team. The update is scheduled to hit Google Play later today, and as of this writing, it is still showing the app as last updated on November 14.

googleplusupdate

The first feature added is on the go profile editing, which should help users keep their profile information current no matter where they are. Google+ also made it easier to author content on the Android application. There is also subtle notices when there’s new stuff to read if you like to stay in the loop at all times. Google+ also added the ability to subscribe to notifications from your favorite circles. To go along with the new Google+ Communities, you can now interact with them via your phone or tablet.

Google has also made some awesome improvements to its photo section of the app. Google now offers full-size backups of your photos (up to 5GB free), standard-size backups (unlimited free storage at 2048px). For Android 4.2 users, you can create 360-degree photo spheres from your device and share them to Google+. For Froyo-or-later user, you cannot make them, but you can still view them from other users.

Google+ has also thrown in some of what it is calling “stocking stuffers.” Users of the app will get animated GIF support and birthday reminders in Google Now. There is also a new lock screen widget for app users.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean now available for AT&T Motorola ATRIX HD users

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 07:51 AM PST

We had been expecting the Motorola ATRIX HD to get Jelly Bean sooner rather than later. In fact, Motorola had previously said that it would be available for those in the US beginning this month. And well, it looks the update has arrived. The news comes by way of AT&T who note rather simply that the update is available today.

P1090736-540x405

Those rocking an ATRIX HD with AT&T will be getting Android 4.1 and they can grab the update by making sure they are connected to Wi-Fi and then navigating to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates. From this point, just follow the prompts and you will soon be enjoying a new dessert.

Of course, many Android users will already be familiar with what Jelly Bean will bring — but for those who need a bit of a refresher, get ready for Google Now as well as the filmstrip mode in Gallery, improved Camera focus and Project Butter. Another perk that you will see is the Quick Settings. These are just what the name implies, a quick way to access settings such as Wi-Fi.

Otherwise, another nice perk that comes along with Jelly Bean is the improved notifications. With these you will be able to do things such as see important details without having to launch the app. For example, you can see the full image from an MMS message or see the full text from an SMS message. Bottom line here, if you are carrying an ATRIX HD — go and get your Jelly Bean update.

Facebook SDK 3.0 leaves the beta stage and brings native login and more

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 07:26 AM PST

Facebook seems to have been doing some good things for Android users lately. Of course, we saw those “droidfood” signs urging Facebook employees to begin using Android a little while back. Perhaps more important for the average user though, the Facebook for Android app was updated yesterday. And while Facebook made the push for the end user yesterday, it looks like they are making the push for developers today.

android-sdk-3

This latest bit deals with the Facebook SDK for Android. Specifically, version 3.0. This was originally released in beta form about six weeks back. As of today, Facebook SDK 3.0 for Android is out of beta. Facebook has said that this SDK has been downloaded more than 80,000 times and that this will make it “easier to build social Android apps.”

As to what developers can expect here; a native Facebook login experience, Friend Picker, Places Picker and a Profile Picture control. These are all pretty much how they sound. The login will allow people to authorize permissions without leaving your app, the Friend Picker will allow users to tag friends, the Places Picker will allow users to choose nearby places and the Picture control will show the profile picture for any Facebook object to include people, places and things.

Otherwise, it was said that this release will simplify authentication and authorization, bring improved Facebook API support and allow you to measure clicks and installs for mobile app install ad. Bottom line here, this looks like good news for app developers looking to make use of Facebook. For the end-user, expect any apps with Facebook integration to get updates in the not to distant future.

Nexus 10 magnetic Pogo charger spotted in the wild

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 07:16 AM PST

Nexus 10 owners might be getting a cool new way to charge their devices. A new Pogo charger has been shown by a forum user on Android Central, and this charger looks quite a bit more convenient. It comes hooks onto the phone using magnets, which makes hooking the phone up a little easier and faster. It’s similar in function to the MagSafe chargers you will find on a MacBook.

n10-pogo

The source of the rumored charger claims he works for the original and direct supplier of the pogo cable to Samsung in Korea. He said the charger will be available soon via Amazon and eBay for around $19.99-24.99. The photo looks like it could fit a Nexus 10 device, but of course, this is still a rumor, and until the magnetic charger actually hits the market, it needs to be treated as such.

If this charger does come to fruition, it could offer a cool way to charge your device while we are waiting official pogo dock for the Nexus 10. If you are not a fan of plugging microUSB into your device, this could be a cool option. It’s supposed to hit soon, so we will find out immanently.

The Nexus 10 is certainly a beast of a tablet, and it’s finally possible to get your hands on one, at least in the 16GB varient. The 32GB is still listed as “Out of Stock” on Google Play. Hopefully, this charger is more than a rumor, because it can certainly enhance the awesomeness of the tablet.

Sony Yuga smartphone rumors suggest a handset with 128GB of storage

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 07:03 AM PST

It looks like some additional details have come available regarding one of Sony’s 2013 Xperia flagship handsets. Keeping in mind though, these details have yet to be confirmed by Sony and the handset is still going by nothing more than the codename. That warning out of the way, the handset is the Sony Yuga and based on the details we have been seeing — this looks like it may be an interesting device.

SonyXperiaLogo-540x303

The latest on this handset is calling for a 5-inch full HD display, that part we have heard before. The new addition is that the handset will have Dragontrail glass panels. Yup, for better or worse, it looks like Sony will be carrying on the new tradition of glass paneled smartphones. For those worrying about the potential for breaking, while that remains, the Dragontrail glass is similar to that of Gorilla glass.

Some of the other bits include the handset having a 3,000 mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and a Samsung Exynos 5-series processor, which is believed to be a quad-core 5440. The Yuga is also expected to be water and dust-resistant and sporting a 16 megapixel camera on the back.

And now for an interesting bit — the internal storage. The latest rumors are suggesting the Yuga will launch with 128GB of internal storage. Of course, as mentioned earlier, these details are still firmly in the rumor category which means they can and likely will change with time. Finally, it was previously suggested that Sony would be launching the Yuga towards the later parts of 2013, possibly in October.

Comcast Xfinity TV player app can now download offline content

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 06:33 AM PST

Comcast customers are in for some good news today. The company updated its mobile Xfinity TV Player app on Google Play with some cool new stuff. Users of the app can now download content directly to the device. This means that you can catch up on TV shows even if your device does not have access to the Internet. This should be perfect for owners of Wi-Fi only tablets.

comcastapp

The app is available to download now. Comcast customers are able to download shows from many popular channels such as Showtime, Starz, Encore, and Movieplex, plus many others. The app can be downloaded on both tablets and smartphone devices.

If you spend a lot of time commuting, this update should be perfect for you. Even if you have a tablet with mobile data, you might find that it drops service on the train, and with the content already downloaded, that will not be an issue. Some of the most popular shows from premium channels like Showtime are available to download, so you can watch Dexter and Homeland while on the go.

Of course, it’s not just TV shows in the app. Users can download full movies like Cars 2, The Muppets, and others. The content is available for download over Wi-Fi connections for all users. That being said, Comcast and Verizon have teamed up to offer users the ability to download and stream content to their mobile devices over the Verizon 4G LTE network.

AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy S3 users get an unofficial CM10.1 release

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 06:28 AM PST

Those sporting a Samsung Galaxy S3 with either T-Mobile or AT&T, you have a new flavor of Cyanogen available for use. But before anyone dives in, this one does come with a warning. This is a release of CM10.1, but an unofficial release. It is also considered an early release, which really means that a few items are not fully working.

cm101tmo

The ROM has come by way of XDA Recognized Themer itsmikeramsay and it is based off of the 4.2 AOSP and the official CM10.1 ROM. This ROM is coming by way of a trusted developer, though you will still see the “unofficial” tag in the version number. Perhaps more important here, lets get into the features that aren’t working just yet.

The list of issues begins with the camera, which rather simply is not working in this build. Assuming you can live without a working camera, the other issues include a headphone jack that doesn’t work during phone calls and lockscreen shortcuts force closing when setting system icons outside of the stock theme.

Otherwise, there is also a note that Bluetooth will be sporadic. The Bluetooth is said to be working from a fresh boot, but will not turn back on should you turn it off. And lastly, MTP support. The details note that this “may show SD-Card as Internal Storage and Vice-a-Versa when mounted.” All said and done, this version may not be ready for everyone just yet, but for those with a Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile or AT&T, it does seem like one keeping an eye on.

EE carrying Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE and Google Nexus 7 tablets

Posted: 14 Dec 2012 05:48 AM PST

EE, the UK wireless carrier, has announced that it is bringing two new tablets to its customers starting today. Two of the most popular tablets on the market are available on EE. First, we have the Galaxy Note 10.1. For people who want a little smaller tablet, EE has you covered with Google’s Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 comes with a Huawei E589 mobile Wi-Fi dongle allowing it to access the Internet on the go.

google_nexus_7-1-540x359

The Galaxy Note 10.1 is available on three different plans with varying subsidies. With 8 GB of monthly data it will run you £99.99 on contract for 24 months at £35.99 monthly. If you don’t need that much data, you can opt for the tablet with the 5 GB monthly plan, and you will pay £199.99 and £30.99 monthly. If you need even less data, the 3 GB monthly data allotment plan will cost £25.99 monthly with £249.99 upfront for the tablet. All of those plans include Wi-Fi hotspot access.

The Nexus 7 comes with similar plan choices, but a little cheaper upfront. With 8 GB of data it will cost £29.99 upfront and £35.99 per month. The tablet bundle with 5 GB of data will cost the same £29.99 upfront with monthly access costing £30.99. If you opt for the lowest data plan, you’ll 3 GB of data with the tablet bundled costing £49.99 upfront and £25.99 monthly for the service. Just like the Note 10.1, these plans include access to Wi-Fi hotspots.

All of the plans are based on 24-month contracts. Currently the 4G service that these tablets operate on is available in 18 towns and cities with more coming by the end of the year. EE just announced that 17 more cities and towns will be receiving 4G by the end of Q1 2013, so more cities will be able to take advantage of 4G data and some good prices on these tablets.

Android Community Nightly: December 13th, 2012

Today started off with a bang, as PowerA and Gameloft decided to give away free MOGA controllers and copies of Modern Combat 4 to go along with them. Unsurprisingly, the traffic flooding PowerA’s website forced the company to pull it off the web for a little while. A new 6.3-inch Galaxy Note III is rumored for reveal next year, with Last.fm announcing today that it will soon pull the plug on its free radio service. Three UK announced today that it will be offering the LG Nexus 4, while EE confirmed plans to roll out 4G LTE to 17 new markets in the UK.

samsung_galaxy_note_ii_writing-2-540x411

Speaking of 4G LTE, Verizon and AT&T both announced that they had expanded their 4G LTE networks today, with ZTE confirming that it will be revealing the Grand S at CES 2013. We suspected that today was the day the HTC EVO 4G LTE would be getting Jelly Bean, and Verizon confirmed that Jelly Bean will indeed be rolling out to the Galaxy S III starting tomorrow. Google has rolled out a handful of new search improvements, while Facebook v2.0 was launched for Android devices with some speed improvements of its own.

MetroPCS and Leap Wireless are now offering no-credit-check financing for handsets, Google has launched a confirm button for mobile ads, and we got to see the dual-screen YotaPhone in action in a new video demo. If you’re running out of space on your Android phone, you might want to give Kingston’s new 128GB Wi-Drive a look, and Apple has been found to be infringing on three MobileMedia patents. Dell announced that it will be leaving the smartphone space today, and we heard a particularly silly rumor that claims Intel wants to buy NVIDIA.

Panasonic preparing 1080p smartphone for Japan

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 03:54 PM PST

What do we have here? Another smartphone manufacturer looking to get into the truly HD world of 1080p smartphones. Ever since the DROID DNA blasted onto the scene we’ve been hearing reports and rumors from just about everyone. Today we have one more to add to the growing list. Panasonic has their own 1920 x 1080p phone in the works.

We haven’t seen or heard much from Panasonic lately, not to mention they’ve been focusing their smartphone efforts only in Japan to limit the potential for financial loss. But now there’s a new device roaming the streets from Panasonic complete with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display, as well as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the operating system.

Rumors from PhoneArena have the Panasonic P-02E clearing showing up on a few reports as of late although there isn’t any other details at this point. The image below clearly mentions the HD screen and Jelly Bean, but we’ll have to wait for more details.

Most likely this will indeed be a member of the flagship Panasonic Eluga series. Which is known for thin chassis, water-proof elements, and a sleek design. If it does end up being a flagship phone maybe we could see Panasonic add in a 13 megapixel camera like we’ve been hearing from other smartphone manufacturers of late. Stay tuned for more details as CES rolls around.

Dell waves goodbye to smartphone business

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 03:33 PM PST

We don’t see too much of Dell in the smartphone space these days, and it looks like that’s only going to continue. The company has announced that it will be exiting the smartphone market entirely, as it wants to focus on its Windows PC and laptop business. Little surprise there, considering that Dell is a PC maker first, but it has dabbled in the smartphone space a few times in the past.

Forbes reports that Dell consumer business lead Jeff Clarke announced the company’s departure from the smartphone business during the Dell World conference, saying that it takes “a lot of investments” to be successful in the highly competitive realm of smartphones. He also called out Android specifically, saying that it was difficult with the company to make money on the OS due to the fact that Android is “a content play.”

Dell had a selection of Android and Windows Phone devices on offer at one point in time, including the ill-fated 5-inch Streak, which these days could almost be considered something of a precursor to the Galaxy Note. However, there is still hope for those of you would like to see Dell try to tackle Android at some point in the future, as Clarke said that his company was still looking at Google’s mobile OS. He suggested that Dell has some Android-related tests going on in its labs, so Dell is at least still trying to see if it can come up with anything cool in the Android space.

For now, however, the focus will remain on Windows 8 and Windows RT. The company has revealed a pretty hefty line up of Windows-based machines, so we’ll see how it does when its focus is just on Windows instead of smartphones. Would you like to see Dell give Android another shot some time down the road?

Intel to acquire NVIDIA according to crazy rumors

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 02:13 PM PST

In what sounds like one of the crazier rumors we’ve heard in a long, long time, the folks from Intel might be preparing to acquire NVIDIA. The mobile processing market is really getting competitive as of late and this could give Intel the edge they so badly need. What’s even crazier is the talk that Intel will make a switch at CEO and have NVIDIA’s own take charge of the entire ship.

First off I’m going to start by saying take this rumor with a grain of salt, possibly the biggest grain of salt ever. Like Great Salt Lake style. According to The Bright Side of News this rumor has been floating around and actually has some backing, although the details obviously are few and far between. A move like this would really shake up the mobile landscape.

Can you imagine NVIDIA with the resources of Intel? Their Tegra 3 quad-core processors getting the boost and R&D that has made Intel the absolute best of the best for so long in the PC department. These sources claim “coffee table discussions” have been going on regarding the acquisition, as well as the replacement of Intel’s CEO (retirement) for NVIDIA’s own Jen-Hsun to offer a fresh perspective.

The acquisition would also be about NVIDIA’s popular GeForce graphics division that has continued to push the limits for PC gaming and beyond. This could really be a win-win for Intel if they could work out the details. There’s also discussions about cross-licensing deals as well, so we could see Intel and NVIDIA working together if anything. For now all of this is just a huge rumor and we’ll take it at face value. Imagine the possibilities though.

Google Calendar app update brings improved notifications and more

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 01:56 PM PST

Google Calendar originally rolled-out as a stand-alone app back in October, and well, it looks like Google has just released an update. And nicely done, this one adds some worthwhile functionality. Unfortunately though, not all issues have been addressed and there is still the warning for those with an HTC device.

The HTC bit aside though, included in this Google Calendar update is the ability to quickly create an event from the month view, location suggestions while creating an event and actionable notifications. Perhaps this will vary for some, but the actionable notifications are going to be rather nice.

Some of the use cases include being able to make a call, or even get directions from the notification. This looks like a perk for those who use their calendar as a to-do list scheduling everything. Now (as seen in the above image), you can schedule that call to Grandma for a certain time and once the notification comes in, just hit call and be connected. Of course, the notification also includes the option to snooze, just in case you are not quite ready.

Otherwise, aside from the issues with HTC devices, the Google Calendar app remains available only for those running Android 4.0.3 or later. We suspect the HTC issues will be resolved at some point moving forward, but while we wait — one thing seems clear, with Google having released the Calendar app as a stand-alone, we are now going to be able to get new features and tweaks on a more regular basis. Sort of like what we have been seeing with the Gmail app.
