Taiwanese manufacturers expect over 1 million Nexus 7 tablets to be sold in December

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 10:45 AM PST

With the holidays upon us, it’s really no surprise that manufacturing and sales are up for multiple Android devices out there. However, an estimate of over 1 million Nexus 7 units to be sold this month, while generous, may be a spot-on prediction.

The Nexus 7 started out selling 500,000-600,000 units / month, then moved into the 800,000-900,000 bracket in November. This month, Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer, manufacturers of the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire, are saying that number will well exceed 1,000,000 units sold in December.

New YotaPhone will feature LCD screen on one side, E-Ink on the other

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 08:21 AM PST

We’ve seen cool. We’ve seen awesome. But this… I just don’t know what to think about this. A new device, dubbed the YotaPhone, will feature dual screens, but probably not the way you’re thinking.

The phone will feature not only a 4.3″ LCD screen on the front, but also an E-Ink display on the reverse. While it won’t exactly be optimal for watching videos, it will give users an easy-to-read option for anything text based, even in direct sunlight or at fast-glance. Not to mention the battery saving capabilities this offers.

The phone, which will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, is planned to be shown at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year, and should be shipping by Q3 of the same year to Russia. Be sure to check out the full press release below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
