Toshiba AT10LE-A tablet photos leak with rumored 1.8GHz Tegra 4 chip

Posted: 02 May 2013 01:16 PM PDT

We’ve been hearing about the AT10LE-A for about a month now, last shown on the results database of the AnTuTu benchmark app. Now, the device is back in the spotlight, complete with a spread of photos.

The device, while remaining unclear on most of the specs at this time, is rumored to house a 1.8GHz quad-core Tegra 4 SOC. Adding in the 10.1 inch size, what we’re probably looking at here is a relatively high end tablet. We also see a keyboard dock in the leaks, and it is confirmed that it will have  MicroSD expansion, mini HDMI output, and full stereo speakers, all on Android 4.2.1.

Jelly Bean now more popular than Ice Cream Sandwich; both trail Gingerbread

Posted: 02 May 2013 05:46 AM PDT

Android 4.1+  Jelly Bean has moved ahead of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in terms of popularity among versions of the platform. That said, both still trail the Gingerbread build as the two year old Android release still clings to the lead.

platform_versions_may2_2013

Overall figures for the last 14 days show that Android 4.1 and 4.2 combine for a total share of 28.4 percent of the pie. Android 4.0 comes in a close second with 27.4 percent. As for Android 2.3 Gingerbread, it still commands 38.5 percent of all Android devices accessing the Google Play Store over the last two weeks.

Why are these numbers important and who really cares?

Not only do these figures help us get a grasp for what versions of Android are waning in popularity and usage, they are a great tool for developers. Anyone looking to create a new app or game would be wise to browse through some of the numbers to see which versions are worth supporting.

Android devices come in many shapes and sizes all around the world. With a wide range of device types, you have an opportunity to reach a huge audience with your app. In order to be as successful as possible on Android, your app needs to adapt to various device configurations. Some of the important variations that you should consider include different languages, screen sizes, and versions of the Android platform. – Android
