The official FCC documentation for the Sony Honami can be accessed online, although parts of it are protected by a short-term confidentiality request that expires at the end of September, suggesting that may be the period when the handset will be released.
The protected items include the user manual, test setup photos, external photos and internal photos, and while September 30 date is clearly mentioned and we can interpret it as a potential launch date for the handset, that doesn't necessarily mean the device will be available in stores staring with that date.
As the letter says, there's always a possibility that the handset could be launched earlier, in which case the company will cancel the restriction.
The Sony Honami is hardly a secret anymore, as it has starred in its fair share of leaks and rumors. The FCC documents mention the "Honami" product code name quite a few times, although that's not going to be its commercial name – the device is expected to launch as the Xperia i1.
The documentation also reveals that the device will come with Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 on board and will have LTE support for bands 2, 4, 5 and 7 in the U.S.
Rumored specs for the Honami include a 5-inch Full HD Triluminos display. 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 20.7-megapixel camera, 3000mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (at least at launch).
