Ubisoft Rayman Fiesta Run, new Rabbids Big Bang game coming this fall
Sep 11th 2013, 01:23, by Juan Carlos Torres

Looks like this fall season will be anything but boring with Ubisoft launching not just the next installment to its popular Rayman running game but also a new title, Rabbids Big Bang, that, as the name suggests, will be an explosive, whacky adventure.

Rayman Fiesta Run is the sequel to the Rayman Jungle Run side-scrolling running game, taking our protagonist across festive maps filled with vibrant colors, piƱatas, and giant castle-eating monsters. Rayman Fiesta Run also includes a new social feature that allows players to share and boast about their achievements. It is powered by an improved UBIArt Framework that is used in Rayman Legends, and will make it possible for the company to also bring in its other titles such as Child of Light and Valiant Hearts soon.

Rabbids Big Bang is a new game featuring the totally insane rabbits from the Rayman universe. In this physics-based game, you get to guide a Rabbid hurtling through space, controlling its jetpack and utilizing planets’ gravity to maneuver past obstacles. Prepare to encounter an assortment of absurd creatures and heavenly bodies, and even bounce off space cows!

Rayman Fiesta Run and Rabbids Big Bang will be coming this October, although Ubisoft has not yet mentioned a specific date or price. The games will be available on smartphones and tablets, which should include Android, iOS, and Windows 8.

Toys "R" Us Tabeo e2 tablet launched with loads of fun for kids
Sep 11th 2013, 00:44, by Juan Carlos Torres

As we’ve observed, children seem to be the new frontier for tablet manufacturers, which seems to be confirmed by Toys “R” Us announcing the successor to its child-friendly tablet line, the Tabeo e2. Filled with apps for kids, the Tabeo e2 improves on its older sibling, promising to give an upgraded computing experience for children to enjoy.

The toy retailer launched its first Tabeo tablet in October last year, sporting modest hardware. The new Tabeo e2 is no different, at least when compared to the current generation of tablets. The tablet’s screen has been upgraded to an 8-inch display sporting a 1024×768 resolution. The processor has similarly been boosted to a dual-core 1 GHz CPU paired with a quad-core GPU. Storage has been doubled to 8 GB, expandable with a micro SD slot. The tablet also features the usual connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth and even an HDMI port.

While the hardware sounds rather nondescript, its just enough for something that’s just meant for kids to play with, and hopefully even use for learning. The Tabeo e2 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, giving kids access to around 1,000 parent-approved apps and games from Tabeo’s special app store, including popular titles such as Temple Run, Bejeweled, Fruit Ninja, and more. Toys “R” Us also makes mention of parental control features, but has no word on special features that would make the tablet durable, or at least less prone to damage.

The tablet will be launched in stores across the US and online starting October and will come in three colors available exclusively from Toys “R” Us stores. The Tabeo e2 is already available for pre-order with a price tag of $149.99, although the page says that tablet will ship by the end of the year.

Samsung's Tizen OS 3.0 spotted on the Galaxy S4
Sep 10th 2013, 23:44, by Cory Gunther

The idea behind Samsung ditching Android in the future is nothing new, and we’ve heard reports, tips, and rumors on this for a long while. However, lately their Tizen OS has been getting a lot of attention. Some say it’s been shelved, but recently it was reportedly spotted running quite smooth on the companies current Android flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4.

To be more specific, this is Tizen 3.0 on the Galaxy S4, which is one of their latest and most mature versions of the mobile operating system. If you look closely, you can see this is the brainchild of Meego, Bada, Android, and even hints of Windows Phone in there. They sure know how to take cues (read: steal) ideas from others, don’t they?

The Samsung and Intel-partnered Linux-based operating system is in its 3rd internal release, and if what we’re seeing today is accurate thing are coming along quite well. They’ve made the entire design flat, pretty, simple, and much more in line with current smartphone trends. Although, they might want to think outside of the box instead of matching what’s currently popular. Think big!

We’ve heard talk of it being nearly canceled and delayed by Samsung. With the Galaxy line and Android doing so extremely well, why even replace it. Samsung surely will (and has) denied any plans to exit the Android ecosystem, but if they didn’t have to rely as much on Google, surely they’d be happy.

There hasn’t been a lot of news lately on Tizen, but these latest pictures with a nice clean UI, awesome looking notifications, and more all running on the Galaxy S4 has people’s interest piqued again. Myself included. We’re still not expecting anything until sometime in 2014, if ever, so rest easy knowing a Galaxy S5 is still coming early next year.
