Update - 6

As the excitement for Mobile World Congress 2012 builds, there are many rumors flying around regarding what devices will be unveiled. Japanese website Ameblo has screen shots of three Samsung Android-based devices that have WiFi certification, the SGH-T999, the SGH-I535 and the SPH-L710. While Samsung had announced that it will not be introducing the Galaxy S III at MWC, they may still have one of these smartphones up their sleeve.
We’ve come across the SGH-T999 before, as it is most likely to be T-Mobile’s Galaxy S Blaze 4G. It will have a nice 1280 x 720 pixels resolution HD screen, and the T9x9 code for Samsung usually means a high end device for T-Mobile.
We haven’t heard of the other two phones, but this leak has some interesting facts about them. The SCH-I535 is equipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be sold on Verizon in the US. The SPH-L710, on the other hand, is reportedly a Sprint handset.
We’re itching for the next 10 days to go by, and we’ll get to see just what MWC 2012 has to offer.

The Android website is counting down to Mobile World Conference (MWC). They posted this animation on their website which adds more elements as we get closer to the opening of the conference, February 27th. What cool things will we see from Google this year? Whatever it may be, it doesn’t appear as if the animation will be giving away anything major. Seemingly all of the animation’s elements are sourced from the image below, click for full size.
What do you want to see most from Google: Jelly Bean Sneak Peak, Nexus Tablet, Android @ Home, Majel, set-top boxes, or something else? Let us know in the comments!

If you’re anything like my girlfriend, you have beaten most, if not all levels within the series of Angry Birds games. Having spent a ton of time playing all 3 games, the only hope she has for a new and refreshing gaming experience is when a new level gets added to Angry birds Seasons, and boy let me tell you she gets stoked when that happens! Wait till she see this though. According to a teaser video released by Rovio (AB creator), a totally new game is in her future – Angry Birds Space.
While the video doesn’t really divulge much info or details other than it’s being released on March 22, but I think it’s safe to say the game will take place in space. The only thing I can assume from this is that maybe there will be some kind of wonky flight path due to the lack of gravity in space. I dunno. Based on the teaser video’s naming scheme: Angry Birds Space – Teaser #1, you can expect there will be more teaser videos to follow. I am sure we will start to see more details emerge as soon as the next video is released. We will keep our eyes out for anything new and will let you know as soon as we learn more. In the meantime, jump past the break for the short teaser clip. Keep in mid I did say short.

Thanks Sasha!

Apple’s hopelessly contradictory actions are beginning to become as transparent as the window I’m currently sitting next to. They’ve sued Motorola, HTC and let’s not forget about Apple suing Samsung over, and over, and over again. All of these suits are based upon intellectual property that Apple claims is theirs and only theirs to use. This happens all the time in the business world, especially one that is so fuelled by innovation like the mobile device industry. However Apple doesn’t seem to have any shame for any of these legal actions, even after they blatantly steal or rip off ideas from other companies, namely Google and their Android 4.0 mobile operating system.
Well it seems to have happened again, as the folks over at BGR have wrestled a screenshot from the upcoming March update and it features something that Ice Cream Sandwich users will be familiar with by now: the ability to access camera functions and unlock your phone with swipes to the left and right, respectively. To be honest, if Apple didn’t sue anything that looks at its intellectual property with anything but a wad of cash in their hand, I wouldn’t find this too worrisome. You know, business as usual for the business world. However given the fact that Apple is known for suing other companies voraciously over “stolen” property — even with Steve Job’s famous mantra (quoted from Picasso) “good artists copy, great artists steal” — I personally believe that Apple should be given a firm back hand regarding who they take legal action upon, and more specifically what they sue over. But that’s just my opinion.

We’ve heard the rumour that the HTC Fireball is heading to North American shores, particularly carried by Verizon. Well, adding some more fuel to the fire, it seems that the model number for the HTC device has appeared on a WiFi certification document. With MWC 2012 right around the corner, this could mean that HTC might be planning to add the Fireball to their list of phones debuting at the event. Only time will tell, and with MWC kicking off in 10 days, we won’t need to wait long. There have been no concrete details of the innards and workings of the device, however rumours have suggested a 4.3″ display with a 1280 x 720 resolution, a dual-core processor running at 1.3GHz and 1GB of RAM.

Great news for you North American HTC Thunderbolt owners! According to HTC’s Facebook page they have plans to upgrade the device to ICS at some point in the future. They didn’t give an exact time frame, but at least we know it’s coming (I had my doubts). Along with the TBolt, HTC gave ICS update confirmation for the Rhyme, DROID Incredible 2, Rezound and the Raider (for you Canadian folks). Pretty cool, and good news indeed. We will let you know as soon as we can pin down some sort of time frame.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Note back in September, we all wondered when the U.S. would get this bad boy. It may have taken longer than we wanted, but hey, better late than never right? You will have your chance to buy one in either carbon blue or ceramic white starting this Sunday at AT&T for $299.99. Of course if you pre-ordered, you will receive it today.
The AT&T version features a 5.3-inch (1280 x 800) Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal memory, microSD for up to an additional 32GB, HDMI though MHL/USB 2.0 port, NFC, 4G LTE, HSPA+ at 21.1 Mbps, 2500mAh battery, and Android 2.3.6. It’s definitely big, but it’s also fairly thin at 9.65mm while weighing 183 grams.
We will do a full review, but I’m not sure you should even wait for it. Just go and buy it and be prepared because everyone will be starring at you with envy. How can you not be the most popular person at any party with the Galaxy Note?  Here’s my initial hands on.

If any of you are avid Android gamers I am sure you are familiar with the game developer Gamevil. In case you aren’t familiar, Gamevil is responsible for bringing us uber popular game titles such as Cartoon Wars, Air Penguin and both the Soccer and Baseball Superstars series’. Just yesterday, Gamevil released their latest title in the Baseball Superstars series and this time it’s in HD. With a series that has already received over 30 million downloads you can expect the newest release to be better than the rest.
I think stepping up to the plate and releasing the game in HD was a wise move on Gamevil’s part. With the quality of displays we are seeing on devices these days, its a bummer when you download a new app or game and it can’t even utilize your device to its fullest potential. Good call Gamevil!
Other than improved gameplay and HD graphics, Baseball Superstars 2012 brings other additional features such as:
BASEBALL IN CRYSTAL-CLEAR HD
See more, play better – Enhanced details and clarity make an eye-opening ballgame optimized for HD and high-res displays on latest Android devices.
SMART CONTROLS & INTELLIGENT AI
New gesture and tilt controls allow intuitive pitching and batting. Smart AI teammates make exciting baseball plays, split-second catches and laser-precision throws.
TOTAL TEAM MANAGEMENT & CUSTOMIZATION
Customize your team logo, stadium, uniform and equipment. Recruit, combine and level up players to assemble the best team.
EXPANDED MY BATTER & MY PITCHER MODE
Train to earn skill points, new special moves and stat-boosting nicknames as you rise from rookie to Superstar.
NETWORK MATCHES
Go up against other users’ teams around the world in PVP matches.
COLLECT SUPER PLAYERS AND MORE
Meet the challenges of new super players to have them join your team. Go after the multiple story endings and player skill abilities.
I haven’t had the opportunity to check it out yet, so to draw your own conclusion you can grab the free download from the links below.  Based on Gamevil’s track record I imagine it to be pretty fun. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

It appears that the Galaxy S II i9100 is seeing yet another official Android 4.0.3 ROM leak. This time we are seeing the I9100XXLPH build from February 9th. It still has Android 4.0.3 with TouchWiz intact but builds improvements upon the previously leaked build we told you about on February 3rd. While the XXLPB improved upon the battery life from another previous build before that, this new build is said to improve battery life even further. It also brings the following to the table in regards to the previous LPB build:
  • Interface: Kind of 3D effect when scrolling.
  • Battery: Lot better than early ones.
  • Faster: Feels the same as LPB
  • Touch: Not so good as LPB.
  • Overall: Better score in our eyes than LPB .
  • Facelock: Same as LPB working fine.
  • Task: Same as version LPB.
According to the forums it’s rumored that this is the build that is the precursor to the official update coming forth. If this is true then the rumored timeline that the S II would be seeing ICS on March 1st is shaping up to be true. While there still may be some hiccups in this test build it’s being reported that this is good enough to be used as a daily driver. If you test this hit us up in the comments below to let us know how well it runs.
