Official HTC One X Case In the Flesh

Yesterday we told you about a couple of HTC One X cases that were being made by HTC themselves. At the time, we only had an image of one of the cases as it was displayed on a screen during yesterday’s HTC event in Seattle. Luckily for us, our friends at Engadget got an exclusive sneak peak at the second perforated case (the one we hadn’t seen yet) for the One X.

There is nothing like a case that is made by the phone’s manufacturer, that is for sure. The fit and finish is almost always better than any aftermarket case and who would know how to protect device better than its maker? It is still believed that these cases will launch alongside AT&T’s One X on May 6th. To see a couple more images of this upcoming case, go ahead and jump past the break.

Share to Google ‘Drive’ Spotted on Today’s Android Developers YouTube Video

If you have a subscription to the Android Developers YouTube page you would have noticed an invite the past two days to watch Google interview select successful Android developers. What you may have missed is that today’s developer who was being interviewed accidentally showed the world the option of share to ‘Drive’ while giving a product demo. Oops.

Unfortunately Google has already pulled the full length video from the web (probably to edit that portion out) but thankfully our pals at The Verge saved the important bit. Too see the what the option of sharing to Google Drive looks like be sure to jump past the break to check it out. Don’t forget that you too will have this option come next Tuesday! Now could be the perfect time to familiarize yourself. :-) Be sure to watch the dude’s expression on the right after it gets shown on camera. It kinda looks like he is looking at the producer like, “Whoa, we weren’t supposed to show that, huh?”

Fast Facebook looking to speed things up when it comes to managing your social life

These days everyone is moving a thousand miles an hour managing their jobs, social lives and various other extracurricular activities. No one wants to sit around and wait for their Facebook client of choice to slowly download messages and upload comments while on the go in this fast paced world. Development group Team2Soft has just released the beta version of their new app, Fast Facebook. The app promises no hidden services or annoying notifications along with low battery and memory usage. The UI is quite different from the traditional Facebook mobile model, giving FB fans a new, fresh ICS-type look. Do keep in mind that this is a beta version, so at the moment it does lacks certain features but that shouldn’t be any different from any other Face Book client currently offered in the Play Store. HTC One X extended battery a possibility in the near future

Earlier this morning we reported that HTC was primarily going to focus on thinner, sexier looking phones for their future lineup with secondary focus on battery life improvement. From the comments left in response to the story, it’s clear that this decision will not be received well by many power users in the Android community. After all, wasn’t Android designed to heavily multitask with ease while surfing the web on those fancy LTE waves? We all know that you can’t play hard for too long without a sizable battery on board.

Well it so happens that mobile battery company Mugen Power Batteries agrees with these sentiments and has posted a poll on Facebook that asks users if anyone would be interested in the possibility of them providing an extended battery kit for the HTC One X. The whole process would be exactly like what was described in our report for turning your DROID RAZR into a RAZR MAXX. The kit will come with the extended battery, tools for taking the phone apart along with step-by-step instructions. Of course doing a procedure like this will most certainly void your warranty so I’m not sure how many new HTC One X owners will jump at this right away. At least there are companies out there that are willing to think outside the box and offer alternatives to resolve issues that admittedly should be addressed by the manufacturer itself. Google+ Adds SMS Support Across 41 New Countries

Today, Google+ received an update that allows 41 new countries the ability to send SMS (text) messages. Before today, the U.S. and India were the only countries able to take advantage of this feature and I guess the big G decided it was time to spread the love. If you or someone you know lives in any of the following countries, you/they can now post new status messages and respond to comments via your/their phone’s text messaging function. The added country list is as follows:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Congo (DRC), Cote D'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia.

In order to take full advantage of this function, be sure to active your phone number under Google+’s settings tab on the website. You carrier must also support this function, too. To see if your carrier allows this option be sure to check out the source link below.

Rumor: Samsung tablet to be unveiled at London event

Let’s take the following information with a grain of salt. An anonymous source has claimed that Samsung intends to present a 10.1 inch tablet along side the supposed Galaxy S III  and S-Cloud announcements at the upcoming Samsung event in London on May 3. The source goes on to say that the tablet will have a dual-core processor unlike the official Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 which has just been recently upgraded to a quad-core processor.

As interesting as another tablet release might be, I find it hard to swallow that Sammy would bother putting out yet another tablet with borderline average specs. Back in February, the company fully admitted that they were struggling in the tablet market, which doesn’t really support this latest tablet rumor. The Samsung London event is only 13 days away so we’ll find out all the juicy details soon enough. Stay tuned for future updates on one of the most anticipated announcements in Android this year.

[Deal] Amazon Fires up the ‘Spring into Sprint’ Sale Again, All Sprint 4G Phones are Just a Penny

Always on a mission not to be undercut, now is a great time to pick up a new Sprint 4G phone from Amazon Wireless. From now until April 30th, the wireless retailer is holding another “Spring into Sprint” sale and is offering all 4G Sprint phones for only a penny. As usual, this is for new activations only, and along with a 4G plan from Sprint comes the minimum $80 rate for the monthly service. It is unknown whether the upcoming Sprint Galaxy Nexus will be included in the deal but I would venture to guess it’s unlikely. NVIDIA promises console-like performance from mobile graphics by 2014

Yesterday NVIDIA’s Mike Rayfield spoke in Seattle about the evolution of the PC towards a more mobile device. For example, several years ago a PC meant a display that measured at least 11-inches, a physical keyboard, and a network connection. Now it’s anything with a display of at least 4-inches, a touchscreen replacing a keyboard (or supplementing it), and an always on connection.

NVIDIA obviously knows the PC side as they’ve spent a number of years designing graphics that powers desktops and notebooks. Now NVIDIA has invested a ton in mobile computing.

With this investment, NVIDIA has spent a lot of time innovating for both battery life and mobile graphics. The Tegra 3′s 4-PLUS-1 architecture brings better performance while extending battery life by as much as 40%. What about mobile graphics? Mike showed the chart shown above, which shows mobile graphics closing the gap with consoles like the Xbox 360. You can clearly see that by 2013/2014, mobile performance will be on par.

Towards the end of the presentation, Mike was joined by Phosphor Games Studios’ Chip Sineni and Brett Seyler, of Kerosene Games to get a quick look at two upcoming Tegra 3-optimized titles: Dark Meadow: The Pact and Bounty Arms THD. While Dark Meadows is already available for iOS, we can expect a “visual-upgrade” for Tegra 3 devices.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think the console’s days are numbered. More and more people are going to migrate to phones and tablets for their gaming needs, especially casual gaming. What do you guys think?

Rumor: The Upcoming LG D1L Smartphone May Feature Wireless Charging

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III is looking to set the new standard for all Android devices. While it rightfully getting much of the attention and limelight among the Android community, LG is quietly working on a flagship device of its own and will try to steal some of the shine by having innovative features included. As you might recall, the mysterious D1L has impressive features including a 4.7-inch HD display, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, an LTE radio and Ice Cream Sandwich. However, there’s one new feature that LG has up its sleeve too– built-in wireless charging. While LG has already introduced wireless charging on the LG Revolution, you’d have to buy an optional backplate which makes your phone much thicker. However, reports are coming in the D1L would support wireless charging by default.

If LG can improve its dismal track record of software updates with the release of the D1L, then it may possibly have a winner on its hands.
