US Cellular announces cheap Huawei Ascend Y for $30

Posted: 24 Oct 2012 02:05 PM PDT

US Cellular is one of the leading regional carriers in USA and they are offering a lot of Android powered devices with a cheap price tag. Though today, they launched an Android powered device with Huawei, known as the Huawei Ascend Y. US Cellular is offering it for $29.99 with a 2-year agreement.

Of course it’s a budget phone and I hope you are not expecting a dual-core or quad-core processor under the hood as it features a single-core 800Mhz processor, running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 3.5-inch HVGA (480×320-pixel) touch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder, and DTS Envelo audio technology for surround sound.

if you are a Galaxy S II or One X lover, this phone is not for you, but if you are new to Android and you are not planning to invest big or just looking for a cheap device, then this is not a bad choice. So tell us in the comment box below, are you planning to grab this from US Cellular?

Might the HTC DLX arrive at Verizon as Droid DNA?

Posted: 24 Oct 2012 09:14 AM PDT

A newly leaked minimum advertised price (MAP) for Verizon has surfaced online which suggests the rumored 5-inch HTC smartphone may arrive under the name of Droid DNA.  Known in the past as Droid Incredible X, DIX, and DLX, the phone appears as if it will carry a $199 price tag, something we simply love.  The HTC6435LVW is identified as having a price starting date of November, just in time for the Black Friday shopping season.

I don’t know about you but I’m all over this phone, what with its 5-inch display and HTC build quality.  Even if you cannot really discern anything as high as the 1080p HD display, it sure would be nice to carry around, no?

Posted: 24 Oct 2012 08:51 AM PDT

U.S. Cellular has started expanding its retail presence, today announcing that it will bring its postpaid plans to 460+ Walmart locations within its footprint.  The move will help the carrier get more exposure and potentially reach more new consumers.  This expansion comes shortly after the launch of its U Prepaid, no-contract service, across more than 400 Walmart stores.

These Walmart stores will essentially act like little U.S. Cellular stores, offering the same postpaid plans and unique benefits (no contract after the first, points-based rewards). All participating Walmart stores will carry popular handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S III, Huawei Ascend II, Samsung Chrono 2 and Samsung Freeform 4.

So you’re a big fan of vintage typography huh?  Cool, me too!  I simply love to happen across an old building with some antique hand-painted logo or sign on the side. I’m also a huge fan of old tyme-y brand logos and art. Today, I am extremely excited to learn that Fontly has come to Android. If you’re into ”ghost signs, neon, architectural, foil lettering, hand-painted, and other typographical wonders” then you ought to check out Fontly.

Look ma, more Nexus 4 pictures

Posted: 24 Oct 2012 07:33 AM PDT

What do you know, more photos of the Nexus 4 have landed online with less than one week to go before we see it officially announced. The source @evleaks (whodathunkit) has provided what appears to be press renders that might find their way onto the Play Store site.

There are no new specs or details to go with the photos but that’s to be expected at this point.  Pretty much everything there is to know about this model has leaked online.  All we need now is a launch date and a price.  Anyone got a guess on that stuff?

For what it’s worth, we find it interesting that there are two separate weather indicators in the notification bar.  That’s pretty strange stuff, and quite unlike anything that Google might show.  Whatevs…
