ZTE reveals Grand Era Dual-Mode LTE device

Posted: 18 Dec 2012 12:50 PM PST

I remember a time when I bought a ZTE modem for my internet broadband connection, and today is a time when ZTE is making phones, not just phones, but some extraordinary smartphones with specs good enough to take on any of today’s leading smartphones. Although, ZTE top smartphones are not available in States, but today they launched another one in Hong Kong, may be just to tease all Android phone lovers in US and UK.

grandBehold, the ZTE Grand Era LTE, may be a brother of the Grand Era recently launched in China. The phone is the first of its kind, featuring a dual-mode 4G LTE, that will support China Mobile’s TD-LTE / LTE FDD network, but that’s not it. The phone is running on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel resolution display with Gorilla Glass, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, and also the battery consumption is less on it as compared to other LTE phones, also it’s slim and light in design.

Well, we don’t think so the device will hit States anytime with such specs i.e. LTE radio. But we can expect to see it at CES 2013. Though if such device hits the US shore, would you prefer picking one?

mayan_temple

So you’re new to Android, eh? Welcome to the club, we think you’ve made a great decision! In the event you haven’t already filled your phone or tablet with a slew of Android apps and games, we’ve got just the resource you need. We’ve put together a list of 50 must-have apps that you should seriously consider before the world ends. Okay, so assuming the world continues on beyond December 21, these are the apps we feel are definitely worth your time and/or money.

Note that this is not necessarily our official endorsement of “the top 50 Android apps of all time” and that such a list is often hard to put together. That said, we really like this mix of apps and games as they speak well for Android. We’ll certainly put together more lists along these lines, especially as time goes and new stuff shows up.

Honestly, this is one of the more difficult things to assemble and we feel terrible having left of gems. You’ll notice that there are no big first-person shooters or high-res 3D games on the list. We tried to cater to the average user and come up with 50 titles we’d feel good telling anyone and everyone to check out. You could do much worse than to use this as a starting point for your foray into Android.

Posted: 18 Dec 2012 07:58 AM PST

Polaroid’s name is being tossed back in the rumor mill as a hardware maker said to be designing an Android-based camera. Some readers may recall the camera company demonstrating a device at CES last year that had a Gingerbread (Android 2.3) experience.

Looking ahead, it is being reported that Polaroid is prepping a mirrorless interchangable-lens camera which runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich under the hood. With a hardware design that closely resembles a Nikon 1 J series camera, the Polaroid IM1836 is said to feature an 18.1-megapixel sensor with an interchangeable-lens system. The backside will host a 3.5-inch touchscreen and the camera will offer HDMI output, Wi-Fi connection, and a pop-up flash.

With CES just a few weeks away we expect to learn more about the camera in short order. Have you given any more thought to the idea of owning a digital camera with Android at its core?
