The nation’s largest wireless carrier shows no signs of letting up as the year draws to a close, today announcing a milestone in coverage. With new areas getting 4G LTE coverage over the past few days and weeks, Verizon now blankets 470 markets across the country.

Two years after its launch, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network  offers more 4G LTE coverage than all other competitors' networks combined, with coverage currently available to more than 250 million people throughout the United States. On Thursday, Dec. 20, the network will expand to offer 4G LTE service in 470 markets throughout the country.

As a refresher, Verizon plans to wrap up its 4G LTE expansion in the middle of 2013, and is well ahead of rival carriers. AT&T recently announced it crossed the 125 market threshold and Sprint this week marked 49 markets of their own.

Google sells Motorola Home to Arris for $2.35 billion…among other things

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 10:56 AM PST

The big news today in the Google-verse (for those that haven’t been tuned in) is the big G’s sale of their Motorola set-top box division, Motorola Home. For $2.05 billion dollars and $300 million in shares, ARRIS will be the proud owner of a division of Motorola Mobility that Google wasn’t making much use of as it was. Up front it looks like a simple corporate sell-off, but as Slashgear pointed out, there’s the potential here for something more interesting, as Google now owns 15.7% of ARRIS, a technology company “specializing in the design, engineering and supply of broadband services for residential and business customers around the world.” Among their products is their “Whole Home Solution,” which is designed to communicate information and data (specifically video) from an internet service to a wide array of devices in the home. Given Google’s apparent decommission of the Nexus Q and their continuing focus on GoogleTV, this product alone could be extremely useful to them. All of this is of course strictly conjecture, but rest assured we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any further news on the subject. So what do you think? Strictly a sale or more than meets the eye? Let us know in the comments!

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 09:12 AM PST

Back in September, we reported that Google and ASUS are working on a $100 version of the Google Nexus 7, and then again in October, there were still reports floating around that ASUS will launch it, but when is this really happening? Now, I am about to share some latest breaking news and it came from Picasa, where someone uploaded a picture from an ASUS tablet, and the model number of it is same as the $99 Google Nexus 7.

asus-me172v-1-540x247Though whether it’s a Nexus tablet or just an ASUS tablet, we would love to see this budget Android tablet in market, and for just $99, it’s the best gift you can buy for yourself. Chances are that it will be unveiled next month at the CES in Las Vegas, and it is actually not a bad occasion to launch such a desirable product.

So, if ASUS introduce this product at CES, would you prefer picking it up?

Samsung will be bringing flexible display technology to CES to show proof-of-concept ideas to press and attendees. There will be a 5.5-inch display as well as a 55-inch TV-sized display on exhibit, according to CNET.

This isn’t the first time Samsung will have shown off the technology; 2011 saw Samsung demo a 4.4-inch flexible screen.  That said, we’re very curious to see what advancements have been made over the previous twelve months.

Attendees will get to see a 5.5-inch flexible screen intended for smartphone use, with a 1,280×720-pixel HD resolution and a 267 pixel density. In addition, the team will also show off a television-size 55-inch screen. – CNET

Samsung will reportedly introduce unbreakable display technologies in future Galaxy models, according to one analyst. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S4 or Galaxy S5 will feature this next-gen screen.
