Sony’s SmartWatch goes open source

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 08:53 AM PDT

Sony’s SmartWatch, a bluetooth accessory that was released last year to somewhat mixed reviews, has undergone a pretty major change. Sony has made the SmartWatch open source, meaning that developers can now freely develop, build, and release their own firmware and applications for the device.

Considering that most of the complaints about the SmartWatch had to do with the software Sony bundled up with it, this has, however unlikely, the capacity to bring this device into the limelight for hackers, modders, rommers, and developers. They have also tapped into the modding community in a big way by holding a hackathon with the Ardunio community in Malmo, Sweden.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s 40 Superman wallpapers for your Android!

Looking to change up your Android home screen?  It doesn’t get much easier than swapping out the wallpaper; it’s one of the quickest ways to breath new life into the mobile experience. We recently began curating a collection of wallpapers for you, dear reader, and are only too happy to share the goods!

We’ll be adding to the collection on a regular basis and will occasionally highlight a theme or specific artist’s work we really appreciate.

ABOUT THIS THEME:

This collection of wallpapers is based around the common theme of Superman. Why? Because Man of Steel is out and it’s A-MAZING! In all seriousness, Superman is one of our favorite comic book characters of all time and we found that his shield makes for a great wallpaper. It doesn’t hurt when you have great designs that show him in old school glory or really swell digital creations inspired by the man himself.

Heads up! You may want to clear your cache in Vine

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 06:51 AM PDT

vine-for-android

Just a friendly heads up for those of you playing around with Vine for Android. It seems that the free app has been caching your video, audio, and photos. We learned of this today as one person reportedly cleared more than 1GB of data from the device. It might not be nearly as bad for you; however, with no defined cache limits, you could chew through your storage space. Keep an eye on things and hopefully Vine releases an update that lets users set a cache limit.

To clear the cache in Vine (or any other Android app), head to SETTINGS>MANAGE APPLICATIONS>APP. Once there, you ought to see a clear data and/or clear cache option.
