Sony hints on a new version of the Sony SmartWatch

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 12:38 PM PDT

Sony SmartWatch was officially announced back in April last year, although we don’t know whether it was a great hit or not, but it seems Sony received a good response as it looks like they are planning to launch a successor to it. Their recent activity on their Sony Xperia twitter account hints that they might reveal the new SmartWatch at the Mobile Asia Expo 2013. As the tweets says "One in three smartphone users want smart wrist wear", with #itstime and #MAE2013 hash-tags, that clearly tells us that Sony got something up their sleeves for the mega event.

Google rumored to be preparing a new service to help you get organized

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 12:26 PM PDT

According to an unofficial Google blog, Google is preparing a new service called Google Mine. It looks to be integrated with Google+ and offers a way to keep track of the items you own (or you’d like to own) and share them with your circles. According to rumors you will be able to:

  • Catalog your belongings and track what you have
  • Review your belongings for your friends to see
  • Control who sees what and track conversations
  • Send requests to borrow or try out friends’ stuff
  • Share stuff you wish for, get recommendations
  • Share stuff you are giving away, find takers
  • Follow, browse, and search items that friends share

Another neat feature we are hearing about in Google Mine will be the ability to enter specific information about your objects. For example, you can change the status of an object to “lent”, “given away”, “got it back”, “lost it”, or “had in the past”. You will even be able to post videos about the object, write reviews, and add it to a wishlist. You can also review popular items and see items others have shared.

Right now, Mine is being tested internally at Google and no release date has been announced. As always, we will make sure to update you as soon as we hear more.

LG’s Optimus G successor likely to arrive on August 7

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 06:54 AM PDT

The successor to the LG Optimus G — the one with the Snapdragon 800 CPU — is likely to arrive on August 7. How do we know? Simple. LG sent us an email advising we keep that date open on our calendars as they are “hosting an international media event on August 7 in New York City.” Considering we’re an Android-related site, it doesn’t take much to figure out that we’re gonna get.

Should we see the so-called Optimus G2 show up on August 7, we could be in for a real treat. Rumored specifications thus far suggest 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 1920x1080p HD display, and rear 13-megapixel camera. This is all in addition to the killer processor. Other details tossed around include a buttonless design with an ultra-thin bezel.

If history is an indicator, we might hope to see multiple carriers offering support for the new smartphone. Sprint, for its part, looks to be lined up already.
