LG has lofty expectations for the upcoming G2 smartphone. How lofty? Let’s say they are already forecasting 10 million units (translate) for the device with weeks to go before it’s announced. Sure, it pales in comparison to other best-selling smartphone of the day, but it’s much higher than previous models.

LG is expected to launch (translate) the G2 on more than 100 carriers around the globe, starting with South Korea in August. With North American and Europe getting their hands on the phone in September and the rest of the world in October, we should see some serious ad campaigns ramping up for the the back-to-school and holiday buying seasons.

Samsung has pretty much run away with the crown in Android today but there’s plenty of opportunity for the 2nd and 3rd place to further shake out. HTC is growing momentum again with the HTC One series and Motorola is about to go crazy with its Moto X stuff. Here’s to LG putting some space between them and the likes of ZTE, Huawei, and even Sony.
