It seems like the Moto X hype train can not be stopped. Just when we thought that the release of a new Nexus 7 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean had stolen a little bit of the limelight, the Moto X has roared back into the spotlight.

Android Police have gotten their hands on the camera app for the Moto X and shared the APK for all of us to enjoy. In this build, the application is almost fully functional although the double-flick wrist gesture is obviously not working. You can tap anywhere on the screen to take a photo and hold to take a burst of photos (there doesn't appear to be a limit on the amount of photos you can take in burst mode).

Panorama mode crashes, and HDR and Slow-Motion mode are both disabled and can't be enabled, but other than that the camera works perfectly. The whole UI is very minimalist, and lacks the customizability that other camera apps like Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC's Sense camera apps provide.

Unless you are using a Motorola phone, the app won't replace your current camera app.

Unless you are using a Motorola phone, the app won't replace your current camera (if you are using a Motorola phone it simply won't work) and will simply install as its own app (unfortunately it uses the same name and icon as the stock Android camera app so there may be some confusion).

Check out the gallery below for screenshots, and if you're impressed then click here to head over to Android Police's links to download the APK.

What do you think of the Moto X camera app? Has the camera app convinced you to buy the Moto X?
