Perhaps Qualcomm wasn’t just blowing smoke when it said that it was unfazed by the various Tegra 4 benchmarks that were floating around at the time, as every Snapdragon 800 benchmark that we've seen so far has been very impressive.

The latest benchmark result comes courtesy of the as the yet unannounced Samsung Galaxy S4 SHV-E330S, which not only shows that the Snapdragon 800 is up to scratch when it comes to general processing power, but also that the chip's new Adreno 330 GPU surpasses Nvidia's Tegra 4, a company well known for its graphics prowess.

Snapdragon 800 vs Tegra 4 GFX Bench

The GFXBench software, as the name implies, is used to measure graphics performance on different chips, so this is a pretty good estimate of the frame rate differences that you're likely to see when gaming on the two devices. The Snapdragon 800 Galaxy S4 scored an impressive 26.3 frames per second, whilst the Nvidia Shield could only muster a rather jittery 20.6 fps.

According to this benchmark, the Snapdragon 800 is going to be around 28 percent faster than Nvidia's latest chip, when it comes to gaming, which is a pretty substantial difference.

This is a clear win for the Snapdragon 800 and its Adreno 330 GPU, but I'd really like to see how this chip stacks up against the new and improved Exynos 5 Octa with its brand new six-core Mali T-628 GPU, which also put in a very smooth performance in a similar benchmark test recently. If you'd like a more comprehensive overview of various Snapdragon 800 benchmark scores, you should head on over to this post.
