Our electronic gadgets have managed to make so many ordinary things obsolete, and in some ways that includes paper and pen note-taking. The mobile apps that have been created for note-taking are brilliant, innovative, and extremely useful. With these apps you can take notes on-the-go, and view them later once they sync with all of your devices. 1. Evernote
Evernote has 50 million users, and is absolutely the king of note taking apps. It has everything you need for note taking – picture capture, voice reminders, to-do lists, search, and much more. One of the best things of Evernote is its ability to sync with all of your devices and make all of your notes searchable. Android’s’ app even includes an automated transcription service which turns speech into text. Evernote’s free service offers 60MB per month, more than most of us will need, while their premium plan offers 16GB and an array of other features for $45 a year.

2. Google Keep
Google’s own note taking app is relatively new to the game. If you want a simple app for taking notes and making to-do lists on-the-go, Keep is your best bet. Users can type out notes, take photos, make lists, and record voice notes in a colorful, neat, easy UI. Like Evernote, Keep also transcribes voice notes into text for you. All notes sync back to your Google Drive account so that you can view them on your PC.

3. Microsoft OneNote
Microsoft’s own note taking app is a classic. What used to be the essential note taking app for PC users has made its way to Android devices, and it’s a beauty. You can manage up to 500 notes on your Android device. All notes sync with Microsoft’s cloud service, SkyDrive. What OneNote offers that the others don’t is the ability to create Microsoft Office charts and diagrams. It’s also pretty neat that whatever notes you take update live across your devices.

4. SpringPad
It’s hard to put an amazing app like SpringPad all the way at number 4, but all of these apps are so great. Springpad’s new user interface is something to admire. You can do all of the normal note taking things, plus add collaborators to your notes, and make your notes look absolutely stunning. You can clip an article, snap a photo, record a voice memo or save a nearby place through the app, which then shows you “the right information at the right time.” Springpad’s main selling point is it’s features aimed at gathering contact from the web and aggregating and embedding it into your personal notes.

5. Papyrus
Papyrus is a neat note-taking app that is different from the others on this list. Papyrus lets you take notes but actually writing them with your own handwriting. It’s designed to work smoothly and accurately with either a stylus or your finger. Once you’ve taken your notes, you can export to PDF, PNG, or JPEG to save or share. Papyrus makes note-taking more useful, and even more fun.
