We have some good news and bad news regarding Google Wallet. The good news is that it has been updated and will now be available to all Android devices running 2.3 or higher regardless if NFC is on the device or not. The bad news is that even if you have NFC, the in-store payment option will continue to be limited to a handful of devices because carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile support the ISIS payment system. Customers of these carriers will still be able to download the app and could still find it useful.

With the updated app, users will be able to send money to anyone in the U.S. with an email address. If you send money directly from your bank account or Google Wallet balance, it will be free, otherwise there will be a low fee when using your linked credit or debit card. Google announced this ability for Gmail on the desktop, but it’s not available to all. If you use this feature in the app, you will get early access to it.

You can now add all your loyalty cards to the app. Just scan the barcode or input the number from your card, and the next time you are at the store, you can whip out your phone for the cashier to scan the app. You will find integrated support for Alaska Airlines, Belly, and Red Mango, and they are also going to add Avis Car Rental, BJ's Restaurants, Cosi, Hard Rock International, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International, Raley's, and The Body Shop. The benefit of these integrated merchants is that you can easily sign up in the app and see your reward balance, but you should be able to set up a loyalty card for just about any merchant that has one.

Google Offers will also be available to you. Just show the offer on your app at checkout to redeem. Select coupon sites such as Valpak will be offered later this week. Don’t forget, Google Offers can also be found in Google Maps, Google Search, and Google+.

The update will be rolled out gradually over the next week so be on the lookout. You can try the link below, but keep in mind that it might not show up on your device for a few days.
