Aereo

Android device owners looking to watch live TV on their smartphones and/or tablets can now download the Aereo Android app from the Google Play Store.

As long as your device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or later, you can check out the beta version of the app, which will let you watch live TV on your mobile device and even record shows on a remote DVR for later viewing.

In case you were not familiar with it, you’ll have to know that Aereo is a new service that lets users watch live TV without requiring a cable service, or an antenna for that matter.

By using a remote antenna and DVR combo, Aereo subscribers are able to select from a variety of channels and record up to 60 hours of TV shows (depending on subscription).

Speaking of subscriptions, users will have to pay $8 or $12 per month to enjoy Aereo on their Android smartphones and tablets (but also PCs and other devices).

The downside of Aereo is that it's available only in the USA, and only in select cities, which means you'll first have to see if your location is supported before subscribing.

Obviously, the Android app is available as a free download from the Google Play Store, because the payment for the service is done elsewhere.
