Remember we told you that Huawei will unveil their new Diamond series at MWC and they will launch one phone under it which will be known as Huawei Ascend D1 Q. A Chinese site known as  TechOrz.com leaked some press shots of Ascend D1 Q. The device looks really sexy and it's yet another high-end phone. It features a display probably around 4.3 inch screen, and the color scheme of the phone is black and red.
What else we know is that it will come with Tegra 3 quad-core processor, hence the "Q" which represents the quad-core technology. As it's a high-end phone and featuring all the cool and latest stuff. Expect the device to launch with Android 4.0. Huawei is also launching the 10-inch MediaPad at the event, which is probably part of the Diamond series.
Well MWC is few days away now, so who's looking forward to Huawei "hot" devices? Anyone?

LG has finally announced the successor to their famous LG Optimus line ahead of MWC which is known as LG Optimus LTE Tag. "Tag" actually represents the NFC capability the phone is offering, along with LG Tag+ program, which works with NFC and you can stick it anywhere you want, according to the environment. Like if you put it on your car, it will disable the ability to send text messages or calling while you are driving or it puts your device on silent mode when you are in a meeting or at work etc.
You can also program the phone to change its behavior/setting with the sticker/tag you last communicated with. Like if the car sticker disable the messaging and calling feature, you can program it turn on Bluetooth or GPS automatically while in the car. Cool isn't it?
The phone runs on Gingerbread which is history now, but LG promised that it will receive the ICS update in few months. The device will hit Korea first, like the Optimus Vu, and then later in other countries. Check out the specs after the break:
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
  • 4.3″ IPS display (800 x 480 resolution)
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread with an upgrade to Android 4.0 coming later
  • NFC (duh)
  • 16GB on-board storage
  • 5 megapixel rear-camera, with 1.3 megapixel front-facing
  • 1,700 mAh battery
So anyone looking forward to pick this device? Tell us about it. Press release after the break:
SEOUL, Feb. 20, 2012 – LG today announced its newest addition to its LTE smartphone line-up for the Korean market, the Optimus LTE Tag. Coming on the heels of impressive sales of its Optimus LTE, the world's first HD LTE smartphone, the Optimus LTE Tag advances LG's vision of offering the most diverse collection of LTE devices for all types of customers."Our goal is to offer the widest variety of LTE smartphones in the industry in 2012," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. "The Optimus LTE Tag isn't just a cosmetically-enhanced version of Optimus LTE, it offers a truly innovative feature which we think really makes a smartphone smarter."
The Optimus LTE Tag gets its name from a unique new feature, LG Tag+, which uses NFC (Near Field Communication) to communicate with special stickers or "tags" that can be programmed to automatically change the phone's settings. Swiping a tag upon entering the office could put the Optimus LTE Tag in silent mode and activate Wi-Fi. A tag on the car dashboard could be programmed to turn on Bluetooth, GPS and raise the volume. The options are limitless.
With Slim and sleek design, the Optimus LTE Tag is available in white. Running a 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread (with the option to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later) and 4.3-inch IPS display, the Optimus LTE Tag is the ideal multimedia environment.

We all are familiar with the beautiful Xperia S which was launched by Sony recently as their new flagship device, and I have to admit that it's one of the most beautiful devices of 2012. An Italian blog known as Android HD blog discovered some leaked images of Xperia U, which is actually a smaller version of the Xperia S. As you can see the image above, the phone is small in design, probably featuring 3.2 inches display, and it's running Gingerbread like the elder brother. But as you can see that the Xperia U is using Sony Ericsson branding, and we all know that it isn't "Sony Ericsson" anymore, it's only Sony now.
Well, this might be the tester version and I am sure the final version will be with Sony's branding. Right now, no words on the specs of the phone but you can expect a dual-core processor, I prefer waiting for official words from Sony or maybe we will see this little guy at MWC.
So folks, do you think it's just a prototype or is it really coming? Share your thoughts with us in the comment box below.

Recently, LG teased us with their upcoming flagship device that will be launched as a challenger to the famous Galaxy Note. It's known to us as the LG Optimus Vu. Mobile World Congress is around the corner, but LG has officially announced it ahead of the mega event, and it's yet another beautiful device from the manufacturer. It's the second 5-inch smartphone from a Korean company, first was from Samsung and now from LG. Samsung's Galaxy Note is an extraordinary device but the reason you might pick the Optimus Vu is 4:3 aspect ratio. However, the device will go to Korea first then it will land in the USA.
It will be running Gingerbread, but LG has said they will update it to Android 4.0 with-in three months after the launch. LG will showcase the phone at the MWC. Anyway, have a look at the specs:
Key Specifications:
  • Chipset: 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor
  • Display: 5-inch (1024×768) IPS Display
  • Memory: 32GB eMMC and 1GB DDR2
  • Camera: 8MP with AF LED Flash (rear) and 1.3MP (front)
  • OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • Battery: 2,080mAh
  • Dimension (L x W x D): 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5mm
I can't wait to get my hands on this device. What about you? Check the press release after the break and share your thoughts with us.

Jotting notes is also possible with a finger or with the dedicated Rubberdium™ pen. Among many productive apps installed in the Optimus Vu:, the included Polaris Office allows users to open any document, spreadsheet or presentation while on the go.
At only 8.5mm, the Optimus Vu: is the slimmest among all LTE phones currently on the market and is perfectly suited for a hand and fits comfortably in a jacket pocket. What's to like: Fans of stock Android experience will enjoy the Huawei Honor's simple interface that sits atop Android 2.3 Gingerbread.  The battery pretty much delivers on its promises of a considerably longer standby and talk times.
What's to be desired: A U.S. carrier would be great however we're left buying the costly smartphone unlocked. The 8-megapixel camera is great on paper but the pictures aren't on par with competition.
Out of the box
In the age of 4.3-inch and 4.5-inch smartphones the 4.0-inch Huawei Honor feels refreshing in hand. Although a little bit thicker than most phones in its class, it stays on the good side of clunky.  The (Elegant White) white looks sharp and classy but the plastic battery cover reminds me of some of Samsung's devices.  I suppose, however, that when you're trying to keep weight down that these are the easiest corners to cut.  Note that the Honor does come in six colors: Glossy Black, Textured Black, Burgundy, Elegant White, Vibrant Yellow, and Cherry Blossom Pink.  The silver rim that frames the display looks sharp and distinguishes the front from the rear, a minor but noticeable design choice.

Remove battery cover and battery to access SIM, microSD
The battery cover comes of very easily but doesn't feel cheap or as if it will fall off on its own.  That's a good thing though as you'll have to remove the battery if you want to get to the microSD card slot.  While you are in there you might also notice that the SIM card isn't exactly the easiest thing to remove.  Thank goodness we set those and forget those.
The volume rocker is on the left hand side of the device and took some getting used to but it's pretty responsive.  The power button and 3.5mm headphone jack are both on the top whereas the micro-USB charger port is along the bottom.
At a Glance
Powering on the phone, the 480x854 display looks very bright and clear, and icons seem to pop off the screen. Capable of delivering 16 million colors, it's as good as most Android users would come to expect.  I really dig the minimal amount of custom UI that Huawei puts on the Honor and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread responds well. It's worth noting that the handset is already on the list of devices ready to receive its 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Quick access to common apps
The unlock screen reminds me of recent HTC Sense UI where users can slide the circle to various icons for quick launch.  In Huawei's case, the handset gives direct access to the phone, camera, call log, and text messages.  The pull down notification allows for quick toggling of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, auto-rotate and other often used settings.
Apps
The Honor comes loaded with four keyboards and each has its own strengths and appeal.  Depending on what kind of a mobile typing habit you have, you may enjoy the Android keyboard, Huawei IME, MobiDiv, and TouchPal keyboards.  Of course, if you are a Swiftkey or a beta user you can still download your faves.
In terms of applications, the Honor is loaded with all your standard Google fare, including Android Market, Gmail, Maps, and YouTube.  Additionally, users will find Facebook, Twitter, Cloud+ Drive, a backup application, Safety Guard and a few others. Given that this model does not come with any particular carrier, the bloatware is rather light.
The camera performs okay but it's not on the same level as other 8-megapixel models we've played with.  Would like a dedicated camera button here but that's not a dealbreaker.  Capturing video at 720p HD looks pretty good but it's obviously not a match for 1080p HD.  I really enjoyed looking at the images and videos on my phone but found that they didn't translate quite as nicely to a monitor or larger display.  Clarity and sharpness just seemed a bit off for my liking.
In terms of overall performance, the 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor was certainly impressive.  Swiping, animations, opening and closing apps, and jumping to the camera seemed to be as fast as one would expect.   Heavy enthusiasts might not be fond of a single-core processor however it's more than enough for the average user.  Opening up a bunch of apps, loading social network stuff, and hopping around in the browser proved to be no problem for the Honor.
Huawei definitely has an uphill battle in the United States if they want to take on players like Samsung and HTC.  Having said that, I've become increasingly more open to considering something out of their camp as a device of my own.  Looking back at what was announced at CES and ahead to MWC, it's pretty safe to say that they are not going anywhere.  Unfortunately, they will need the help of a carrier or two in the U.S. if they want to have even moderate success.  That's perhaps one of the biggest gripes I had here as it's too expensive to buy on its own and add your SIM card. Granted one could go with a provider like Cricket Wireless (Mercury) but it's not available in my neck of the woods.

It seems that Chinese companies are planning to rock at MWC 2012. First Huawei announced that they are gearing up to launch new tablet and smartphone at MWC, and now ZTE has announced that they will launch two new Android devices at the Mobile World Congress. The good news is that both will be running Android 4.0 right out of the box. First is the ZTE PF200, which will feature a 4.3-inch display with qHD (540x960 resolution), 8-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing camera for video calling. It'll have LTE, UMTS and GSM radios, as well as NFC, DLNA, MHL high-def outputs, and all the other goodies.
We don't know much about the second device which is known as ZTE N910. It's kind of mid-range device, featuring a WVGA (800x480) display, a 5MP rear camera and a front-facing camera for video calling. ZTE made an announcement that the phones will feature 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz processors, but we don't know which one is powered by which processor. I think the ZTE PF200 is powered by 1.5 GHz processor because it's high-end, and the latter is powered by 1.2 GHz.
I am really looking forward to MWC to check what ZTE got up their sleeves. Anyone else looking forward to it?
