| Samsung Galaxy S III coming to the U.S. this Summer on multiple carriers Posted: 03 May 2012 03:10 PM PDT
Those of us here in the U.S. felt a little left out today since nothing was mentioned about a U.S. release during the big unveiling. As I previously wrote, we can’t expect to see anything stateside for several months. The question is what carriers and what will be different? Samsung had this to say:
If you remember, last year Verizon skipped on the Galaxy S II, but it’s looking like they will welcome the Galaxy S III with open arms. I would also expect to see a Sprint LTE version, AT&T LTE and a T-Mobile HSPA+. What will be different? As we previously reported, I don’t expect to see the quad-core Exynos here in the U.S. We will most likely see the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, which is what’s on the U.S. HTC One X variants. There will probably be other differences like thickness and possibly a bigger battery. Samsung had this to say in their press release for the Galaxy S III (all the way at the bottom): Specifications above may differ on the LTE version We saw this same fine print for the Galaxy Nexus. In that case there was an added thickness and larger battery.

Samsung just released a quick overview video of the Samsung Galaxy S III. In case you’ve been under a rock, it was unveiled about 2 hours ago. Well friends the most anticipated device is officially here, but the Galaxy S III didn’t come alone. That’s why Sammy took some time during its Unpacked event to also introduce some pretty neat compliments to the Galaxy S III smartphone. From car docks to a battery charging stand to an HDMI adapter, Sammy has you covered. The most intriguing accessory however, involves a novel mp3 player called the S-pebble which works with Sammy’s Media Hub app and the Allshare Cast dongle, which allows users of the device to connect the smartphone to a TV wirelessly. The Galaxy S III is now official folks and the picture above is finally the real deal. This is promised to be the best smartphone in the world and its designed by humans and inspired by nature. Sure the hardware is impressive, but it’s not all about that. Samsung showed off a lot of different software innovations.
Smart Stay The innovative “Smart Stay” feature recognizes how you are using your phone by utilizing the front camera. It knows when you’re reading a book or browsing the web so the display won’t time out knowing that you’re looking at it. S Voice “S Voice” is the advanced natural language interface for listening to and responding to your words. You can tell S Voice to play your favorite songs, send text messages, organize your schedule, send emails, and so much more. It goes beyond your voice as the Galaxy S III will recognize your face as well. Motions The Galaxy S III recognizes motions. For example, if you’re texting someone and decide to call them instead, all you have to do is lift the phone to your ear and it will call them automatically. S Beam The Galaxy S III is all about sharing. With the new “S Beam” it expands on Android Beam. By simply touching another Galaxy S III phone, it allows for a 1GB movie file to be shared within 3 minutes and a 10MB music file within two seconds. Buddy Photo Share “Buddy Photo Share” allows photos to be easily shared with all your friends pictured in an image. AllShare Cast “AllShare Cast” allows users to wirelessly connect their Galaxy S III to their television to play any media files on their phone. AllShare Play “AllShare Play” can be used to instantly share any file format between your phone and a tablet, PC, and televisions. GroupCast “Group Cast” feature allows you to share your screen among multiple friends on the same WiFi network. You can even make comments and draw changes while everyone sees it all in real time. Pop Up Play This lets you play a video anywhere on your screen while running other tasks like emails or surfing the web. Camera The 8MP camera has zero-lag shutter speed. It instantly captures 20 continuous shots and the “Best Photo” feature will automatically select the best photo of the previous eight photographs. The front facing camera features a 1.9MP lens that also records in HD. Game Hub, Music Hub, Video Hub Game Hub provides access to social games. Video Hub will give users access to TV and movies, and the Music Hub will be a personal music streaming service with over 17 million songs. The full specs include:

| Missed the Samsung Mobile Unpacked S III Commercial? Then You’re in Luck as We Have it For You! Posted: 03 May 2012 12:08 PM PDT
In case you’re at work, live under a rock or just were in the wrong place at the wrong time you may have missed the Samsung Unpacked Event. You may have also missed the unveiling and official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S III. Well if so, you’re in luck. While we may not have the full Unpacked event yet for your viewing pleasure, we do have the S III commercial. Hopefully this will be able to tide you over until we are all able to get our hands on this amazing device. However rather than ramble on and on about it, I will let the commercial do the talking. | Huawei M660 QWERTY Smartphone Outed By Bluetooth SIG Posted: 03 May 2012 09:19 AM PDT
Looks like Huawei is set to bring an intriguing Blackberry alternative to the masses in the not-too-distant future. This keyboard-toting specimen called the M660 will be a portrait-mode QWERTY smartphone featuring a CDMA/EVDO radio inside, with the frequencies pointing specifically to the infamous MetroPCS brand. In addition, Huawei is more or less budget-friendly when it comes to many of its devices, so naturally the M660 will likely be no different as it will probably feature a few snaps of Gingerbread 2.3 and a modest ( < 1GHz) processor. Additional details are scarce for now, but since it’s been outed on the Bluetooth SIG website, it won’t be a long wait before we see Huawei and/or MetroPCS spill out additional details. source: Bluetooth SIG

We’re about 2 hours away and rumors, leaks, and speculation continue. I’m not sure what we’re going to do with ourselves after the official unveiling other than drool. The latest is from a source from one of the major UK mobile networks that says the Samsung Galaxy S III will go on sale on May 25 in the UK. Of course pre-orders will start well before then. We won’t know for sure until about 2 hours from now. Our own Chris Stewart is on hand to get all the juicy details so stay tuned to Talk Android.

| Temple Run Update adds Artsy Wallpapers to its Store Items Posted: 03 May 2012 08:40 AM PDT
Temple Run received an update today that finally adds a new feature. Wallpapers. It’s not a huge feature but at least you don’t have to see those “coming soon” messages in the store anymore. Along with 3 works of art comes a few bug fixes as well, so if you have yet to receive the update hit up either Google Play Store link below. For those of you who don’t mind spoilers, jump past the break to see what the new wallpapers look like. They actually look to be done by a graphic artist and are not just screenshots of the game. Pretty neat!
