Game Genome Project launches as App Disco

Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:44 AM PST

Game and app discovery for Android gets better today as the Game Genome Project arrives for users.  OK, so it’s actually a beta app for Android which operates under the name of AppDisco, but it’s the same magic stuff. AppDisco (beta) not only helps you discover new and trending apps or stumble over similar titles as to what you have installed, but it looks downright gorgeous doing it.  We’ve spent a few minutes with this on the Nexus 7 and really love the way it feels

Target’s Black Friday ad now online

Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:11 AM PST

Target’s Black Friday ad has made its way onto the internet with around two weeks to go before the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season. Now you might expect that there’s plenty of Android to consider for your friends, family, or yourself. Considering how big the retailer is and how many different electronics devices they offer, we’d hope there’s a few Android goodies, right? Wrong. We could only find two products in the entire ad, both prepaid phones.

  • Virgin Mobile Kyocera Rise Mobile Phone – $29.99
  • Net10 Huawei M865 Mobile Phone – $29.99

Sony C3602 gets the leak treatment

Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:10 AM PST

Yet another Sony smartphone has been leaked online, joining both the Odin and Yuga as something else for which to look forward.  Known only by its model number C3602, the phone has the makings of another powerful device.  Details include a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor with Adreno 225, a 1280×720 HD display, an Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Beyond that, there’s little else to go on at this point.

With the Xperia T, V, and J just beginning to roll out, it makes sense that the C3602, Odin, and Yuga are at least a few months off.  The more we see out of Sony lately, the more we feel like we’re getting a look at their CES or Mobile World Congress announcements.

Europe poised to see Google TV music, movies in coming days

Posted: 09 Nov 2012 07:25 AM PST

Google TV owners living in Europe ( U.K., France, and Germany) will soon have the ability to download music and movies from Google Play.  A post on Google+ tells us that the the features will enabled on November 13 as it finally gets away from being exclusive to the United States. It’s worth noting, however, that this does not mean the features will be available on handsets or tablets.  Presumably, this will roll out to a wider range of devices in the near term.
