Impatiently waiting to see what Oppo brings to the table with the upcoming Find 7? We don’t blame you! The Find 5 was a sexy, powerful device and its recently confirmed sequel will likely be even better. In the meantime though, you might want to check out the newly announced Oppo R819.
The R819 might not be as powerful or eye-catching as the Find 5, but it has one really unique feature that we'd love to see come to future devices, such as the Find 7. What kind of feature are we talking about here?
According to Oppo, the handset will come pre-installed with the company's default ROM but will soon have the option to use a new ‘Color’ ROM, which the company says is a "fresh take on Android that was developed with OPPO fans". The company will also offer a stock Android experience for those that choose to install it.
As for the phone's hardware, the R819 is a modest mid-ranger powered by a 1.2GHz MT6589 quad-core processor and accompanied by 1GB RAM, with 16GB storage. Additionally, the phone has a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, an 8MP cam with LED Flash, a 2MP front cam, Dual SIM support, FM radio, DLNA, a 2000 mAh battery and will come out of the box with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The R819 is also just 7.3mm thick and weighs only 110 grams.
Oppo's latest handset probably isn’t going to blow anyone away, but its specs certainly aren’t half-bad, and the support of three ROM choices makes the R819 a pretty unique device.
When is it coming? While no official date is given just yet, Oppo says the phone will arrive sometime in September and is already available for pre-order for €269 in Europe, or $349 in the United States.
