Jelly Bean moves forward, accounts for 40 percent of Android platform

Jelly Bean continues to move forward ever so steadily, and now commands 40.5 percent of the Android platform. More specifically, it was found on 2 out of very 5 devices pinging the Google Play Store over the last two weeks. Sure, it’s not an exact science; not all devices download apps or hit the Play Store in that time frame. Nevertheless, this is the most accurate way that Google captures the data.

In order of most popular (used) versions of Android:

  • Jelly Bean (4.1/4.2/4.3)
  • Gingerbread (2.3)
  • Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0)
  • Froyo (2.2)
  • Eclair (2.1)
  • Honeycomb (3.0)/Donut (1.6)
