The long wait for the Moto X to reach the masses is nearly over. AT&T sent out a press release today, telling us that August 23 would be the day the Moto X would hit their stores. The press release went on to say that a few customers who registered at the AT&T Moto X page would get early access, and the ability to start the process on August 19.

AT&T is also saying those early adopters would get their handsets before the general public, which doesn't make a lot of sense considering the short window before the device is in stores. Unless they can build and ship the same day, that's probably not realistic.

As for Moto Skip, the $20 wearable NFC device that will turn your phone on for you (because you're that lazy, now), AT&T notes that "for a limited time, Motorola Skip will be included for free in all Moto Maker orders." Just how long that limited time will last is unknown, though.

Engadget is also reporting that some in-store Moto Maker kiosks could look like the one below. A strong in-store presence is going to be needed for the Moto X to be a hit, so we hope kiosks like these roll out on a large scale. The in-hand experience of the Moto X is what really sells reviewers, and is what will likely sway consumers.

Even in announcing the Moto X rollout, AT&T was a bit vague. No mention of which markets will get the much anticipated device, but pricing was noted: "AT&T will offer the 16 GB Moto X for $199.99 and the 32 GB Moto X for $249.99 with a two-year agreement. With AT&T Next, the 16 GB model is available for $27 per month and the 32 GB model is $32 per month."
