Sony Xperia M $249.99 in US markets
Sep 10th 2013, 14:02, by Jess Blanchard

We’ve got a little more Xperia news for you this morning. The Sony Xperia M, which launched in Europe and Asia just a few weeks ago, is now on sale in the US. The Sony store and Newegg both list the device as in-stock for $249.99. The Sony store offers the device in black, white, yellow and purple, but it appears Newegg currently only has the black option available. The device is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile in the US and Rogers and Fido in Canada.

While the device is steadfastly mid-range, it incorporates many of the same pleasing design elements as Sony’s flagship device. The Xperia M would make an excellent beginner phone and would be a solid choice for parents looking to outfit their teenagers in tech on a budget. And it’s always exciting to see a phone hit this side of the pond when it was least expected.

Specs for the Xperia M include:

  • 4.88 x 2.44 x 0.37 inches
  • 4.06 ounces
  • USB High speed 2.0 and MicroUSB support
  • 5MP rear-facing camera with 4x optical zoom
  • 720p HD video capture
  • LED flash
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 4.0″ 480 x 854 TF display
  • 1,750mAh battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus
  • 4GB memory, up to 32GB
  • 1GB RAM
  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
  • UMTS 900 / 2100 MHz
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot

What is this tiny purple thing? Is it the Xperia Z1 mini?
Sep 10th 2013, 13:37, by Jess Blanchard

It’s been rumored that Sony is working on a mini version of the Honami, or as we now know it, the Xperia Z1. And just because there was no mention of a mini at IFA doesn’t mean it still couldn’t happen.

According to Digi-wo, this is the Xperia Z1 mini in purple. Purportedly, the device will feature a 4.3-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and the same 20.7MP CMOS G Lens camera as the Xperia Z1. The source claims the phone will be released at CES 2014.

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but those thousand words could all be a bunch of lies. It’s not hard to fake an image. As always, take rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism and a cautious touch of hopefulness.

2013 Nexus 7 32GB LTE now available!
Sep 10th 2013, 13:25, by Jess Blanchard

Google promised and Google delivered. The 2013 Nexus 7 32GB LTE with T-Mobile SIM card is now available to purchase in the Play store for $349. The device should be available in T-Mobile stores next month, but we know none of you can wait that long.

If you’re not a member of Magenta, do not despair. The 2013 Nexus is compatible with other carriers, as well, including support for LTE on Verizon and GSM/HSPA/LTE for T-Mobile and AT&T. Why are you still reading this and not ordering yours from the Play store right now?
