Android gaming console MOJO will have ability to stream PC games to your TV
Oct 11th 2013, 21:16, by Nate Swanner

Mad Catz, having released pricing and availability info for their upcoming MOJO gaming console, has a bit more to offer. While the Android gaming console will debut this December, and run $249.99, users will also have the ability to stream PC games to their TV through the set-top box.

The MOJO was a bit of a late entry into the Android gaming console wars, having been beaten to the proverbial punch by the likes of OUYA and GameStick. Even NVIDIA got into to mix with Project SHIELD, which gave users the ability to play Steam games on the handheld. MOJO will also offer PC gaming, though the method wasn’t specified.

In terms of Android gaming consoles, each has their own special niche. OUYA is meant as a robust, standalone ecosystem that almost happens to run Android, while the GameStick is meant as a portable solution for your Android TV gaming needs. Project SHIELD ups the ante for mobility, but the small screen may deter some of us. MOJO is more of a powerhouse device, with a price tag to match, but could end up being the runaway winner.

The MOJO has an updated Tegra 4 processor, and will come with Play Store and Amazon App Store loaded, giving you the ability to stream games you already own. With the addition of PC gaming, and a dedicated controller for the action, the MOJO may just give us the best all-around experience.

The ability to stream PC games will not come with the MOJO out of the box, though. Mad Catz notes it will see a software update shortly after launch, though they don't offer a time frame. The MOJO was already offering a lot, so PC gaming is just icing on the Android cake.

C Spire HTC One Android 4.3 update detailed
Oct 11th 2013, 20:40, by Robert Nelson

C Spire HTC One users have an update on the way. Coming by way of the HTC website, the Android 4.3 update has been detailed. C Spire users may want to be on the lookout for an update notification and the update will be arriving as version 2.04.563.3. The changelog for this one is short and to the point; Android 4.3 along with some unspecified bug fixes.

Assuming you have a C Spire HTC One, you now have two available options — sit back and wait for the notification to arrive or dive into the settings and try to get it now. Those taking for former approach will simply need to follow the prompts (once the notification actually arrives).

Those who feel they must have it now will need to grab that handset and navigate to Settings -> About -> Software updates -> Check now to get the process started. After the update shows, just follow the remaining prompts. Otherwise, HTC warns the handset will “reboot multiple times and show software update screens” during the process.

Simply put, let the phone do what it needs and make sure to never try and turn it off during the process. Aside from that important warning, you will want to make sure you have about 20-30 minutes time and that you are connected to a charging cable. Aside from C Spire, we also saw the same Android 4.3 update begin arriving for AT&T HTC One users earlier in the week.

That of course, leaves T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless users still waiting. We have yet to see anything specific from either carrier, however earlier in the month, HTC did say that all major US carriers should have the 4.3 update available before the end of October.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Developer Edition expected "soon" for Verizon
Oct 11th 2013, 20:03, by Robert Nelson

It looks like Samsung is getting ready to offer a Developer Edition Galaxy Note 3 with Verizon Wireless compatibility. The handset was initially discovered by xda user oneandroidnut when he visited the Samsung support pages to register his non-Developer Edition Note 3. And well, a little further digging on the Samsung site revealed the teaser page, which simply lists the handset as coming soon.

This seems pretty standard from Samsung. They list the handset as coming soon and keep the pricing quiet. Of course, based on previous history, we would expect it to arrive with a price point of $699.99. While this certainly will not be a device for the mass audience, this could be one for those looking to do a bit of playing around.

One of the perks of a Developer Edition handset is the ability to easily unlock the bootloader. And as many realize, that is the start of playing around. The listing is for the handset in black and otherwise, with specs that match the regular carrier branded version of the Galaxy Note 3.

Aside from what appears to be an upcoming Developer Edition launch, we have been watching the carrier branded models appearing. The most recent was Verizon Wireless who shifted from pre-orders to general availability earlier in the week. In addition, the Note 3 (along with the Galaxy Gear) has recently arrived with US Cellular, AT&T and T-Mobile.

HTC One Max fingerprint scanner detailed, shown in press render
Oct 11th 2013, 19:38, by Nate Swanner

HTC is preparing to launch the HTC One Max, a 5.9-inch offering in their popular One family of products. Rumors have circulated regarding a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device, though nothing official has been announced. Piecing a few bits of info together, it seems as though it just might happen, and be better than expected.

First, we found an HTC One Max press rendering. The source of the leak is the Chinese blog site Weibo, and comes to us via Dutch site GSMPedia. The picture, which you see above, looks to be for the Asian market. We have seen invitations for an HTC event on the 15th of this month, and dates set for various Asian markets. We've seen a leak of the One Max with Verizon branding, too, but no word on an official US launch.

The image keeps in line with rumored specs — 5.9-inch screen, 2GB RAM, and an UltraPixel camera — but leaves a bit to the imagination. The speed of the processor is noted (1.7GHZ), but not the make. We've heard the Snapdragon S4 Pro would be included, and that 1.7GHz certainly corresponds to it, but the lack of branding is odd. It also notes 16GB of memory, whereas we’ve heard an option of 16 or 32GB.

While the black box on the rear of the handset could be a lot of things, we’ve also learned that HTC may be planning to use it to launch various apps. By scanning various fingers, HTC plans to let users launch certain apps by scanning the corresponding digit.

It may also allow you to navigate the massive device a bit easier, since one-handed use with these larger devices is cumbersome. By swiping your finger along the scanner, it may operate like a touch pad, allowing you to navigate web pages, swipe through screens, or even snap a photo.

That's not to say that HTC won't also use the scanner for security purposes, it just means you may be allowed to delve beyond that functionality. By coupling security and a type of navigation feature, it seems we may be getting the best of both worlds.
