HTC One Max Power Flip Case adds additional 1150 mAh battery
Oct 14th 2013, 15:15, by Robert Nelson

The HTC One Max was officially unveiled earlier this morning, and it looks like the handset will be arriving with an official accessory. This one is a case, and while those tend to be a fairly common item, this one does have something extra. The case is called the Power Flip Case and as the power in the name would imply — it brings some extra battery life.

Specifically, the Power Flip Case packs an 1150 mAh battery. And nicely, this is in addition to the 3300 mAh battery already in the handset. This means One Max users could be looking at a total of 4450 mAh of battery. Or in other words, this should be enough to get just about anyone through a day without worry.

The case will snap over the back of the One Max and takes advantage of the pogo pins located on the back. Basically, those line up and you now have an extra battery as well as protection for the front and back of your phone. The case has cutouts for the important features such as the camera and fingerprint sensor. Not to mention, the volume rocker and microUSB port for charging.

You will also be able to bend the case around and use it as a kickstand. All said and done, the Power Flip Case looks like an accessory worth checking out if you are a power user. Anyway, similar to the One Max phone, HTC has yet to announce any pricing for the case.

The One Max itself sports a 5.9-inch 1080p display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM. Other features of the handset include options for 16GB or 32GB of storage along with a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 64GB in size. Users will also find a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, UltraPixel rear-facing camera, HTC Sense 5.5 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

OPPO N1 pioneer program now accepting applicants
Oct 14th 2013, 14:51, by Robert Nelson

The OPPO N1 was announced back in September and while the availability is expected to begin in early-December, it looks like some lucky users may be able to get their hands on one a bit ahead of schedule. OPPO has launched a ‘pioneer’ program and will be offering the N1 to a select group of users. Those users will be able to purchase the handset at a discounted price, however they will need to do some work after the N1 arrives in their hands.

OPPO has said they are looking for “creative and enthusiastic individuals to get the first look.” They are asking for users that will discover the possibilities of the N1 and share their thoughts and experiences each week. To that point, you will need to send in a few images and your opinion on a feature of the N1 each week. Basically, it looks like OPPO is trying to generate some buzz for the recently announced N1.

That all being said, you cannot simply sign up to be a pioneer. OPPO has an application that you will need to fill out and even at that, the amount of people that get accepted is rather low. OPPO has said they will open this up for 10 users. Nonetheless, your chances will depend on the amount of entries, and also (we suspect) the quality of your application.

Otherwise, while the OPPO N1 was announced in conjunction with a partnership with Cyanogen, there are some other features that are worth highlighting. In this case, the handset has a rotating camera. The N1 has a 13 megapixel camera with a wide f/2.0 aperture and six layer lens that can rotate 206 degrees. Basically, the N1 doesn’t have a front- and rear-facing camera, but a single camera that handles both.

In addition there is O-Touch and O-Click. The touch feature is a rear-facing touchpad that aims to make it easier to use a large phone with one hand. The N1 has a 5.9-inch 1080p display. O-Touch will allow users to scroll, snap images and more. Shifting over to O-Click and we find a feature that will let you remotely operate the camera. This also serves as a device finder just in case you misplace your phone.

T-Mobile HTC One Android 4.3 update expected mid-week
Oct 14th 2013, 14:14, by Robert Nelson

The Android 4.3 HTC One update has been rolling out for those in the US recently. The update has already arrived for those carrying an AT&T branded handset and was later confirmed for those with C Spire. We are still waiting on an official word for Verizon, however it looks like the update is just about ready to arrive for those with T-Mobile.

T-Mobile has yet to post a full changelog, which means the specifics are still needed, however at this time we do have word from Jason Mackenzie. For those unfamiliar, Mackenzie is the President of HTC America and he has also been the source of most of these Android 4.3 HTC One update announcements.

Anyway, according to what was shared, T-Mobile will have the Android 4.3 update rolling out for One users by the middle of the week. Or in other words, those rocking a T-Mobile branded HTC One can obsessively begin checking for the update notification sometime on Wednesday.

That means grabbing your handset and navigating to Settings -> About -> Software updates -> Check now to try and get the process started. Otherwise, you could also take the casual approach and simply wait for an update notification to arrive on your handset.

While we wait for word from Verizon Wireless, we do look back to previous comments coming from HTC. While not offering specifics in terms of dates, they had previously said all major US carriers would have the 4.3 update before the end of October. Assuming that timeline holds up, Verizon users shouldn’t have that much longer to wait.
