We’ve just received the first press images of the LG G Flex, and it looks very, how should I say – curvaceous. Coming in at a whopping 6 inches, it’s rumored to be launching “sometime next month” according to our source.

And, while specs and pricing are unknown, it’s believed that this device will be packing the very latest in both display and processing technology, meaning to say it will launch with a 1080p display, and a Snapdragon 800 SoC, though we’ll have to wait until we get this rumor confirmed.

The curve of the device itself is very different from that of the Galaxy Round, and goes from top to bottom, rather than from side to side.

LG, despite being a much smaller company than incumbent Samsung, still produces world class technology. They’ve traditionally excelled in the display space, but are home to many other great innovations including their ‘step design’ battery, which was used in the LG G2, and believed to be sourced by Samsung for use in their Galaxy Round, as well. And don’t even get me started on thin bezels. You know what I’m talking about.

With Samsung keen to expand in new product segments, they took the wraps off their brand new Samsung Galaxy Round last week. And, like any good sibling rivalry, LG has responded in kind with what appears to be a better looking device, though we’ll have to reserve final judgement until we get an actual one in our hands.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the first press images of the LG G Flex.

As you can see in the image above, it appears that LG is going to continue with similar button placement to what we found on the LG G2, which we happen to actually quite like.

We know with 100% confidence that LG has been chosen as the manufacturer to produce the next Nexus, and that they’ve been working hard to bring more value and quality at all price segments. It’s never good for a system when power is concentrated in the hands of a singular minority. It’s for this reason that we look to companies like LG, Sony, HTC, Oppo, Motorola, Huawei, Xiaomi  and others for leadership.

What are your thoughts on curved smartphones? How will it rest properly on a table? Is this what you expected from LG? Do you like it more than Samsung’s offering – the Galaxy Round? LG vs Samsung – who wins?
