HP Chromebook 11 now in Play Store with matching sleeve cases
Oct 9th 2013, 20:37, by Robert Nelson

HP announced the Chromebook 11 yesterday. The notebook was touted as being one made “for everyone” and judging by the price point, it seems that may be somewhat of an accurate statement. HP had said the Chromebook 11 would be available with a variety of retailers and it looks like it has arrived in the Play Store. And in addition to the notebook itself, there are also some matching sleeve style cases.

The Play Store listing for the Chromebook 11 shows the expected price point of $279. Otherwise, Google has it available in black as well as white/blue, white/green, white/red and white/yellow. Perhaps more important for some, the expected shipping date is listed as October 11.

Aside from the notebook itself, there is also three sleeve style cases available. These are specific for the Chromebook 11 and in fact, are listed as being “the first sleeve designed by Google specifically for your HP Chromebook 11.” Google has three color options available; black, gray/blue and white/red. Those using the case will be adding an extra 222 grams of weight to the 2.3 pound notebook.

These are priced at $49.99 and still listed as coming soon. There is also a similarity to those recently released cases for the Nexus 7. Google also has these listed as being “for Google, by Google” and with mention of how hard it can be to find a case that works and fits your device well. To that point, these Chromebook 11 sleeves are also sporting the Google flag “as a little salute to perfect fits.”

The Chromebook 11 sports an 11.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, is powered by an Exynos 5250 application processor and has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD storage and includes 100GB of Google Drive storage (free for two-years). The notebook also includes a few other freebies as well as dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a pair of USB 2.0 ports and microUSB for charging.

Lenovo IdeaPad A10 convertible Android notebook spotted
Oct 9th 2013, 19:53, by Robert Nelson

Lenovo recently announced a few new Android tablets, and it looks like they may soon announce another item in the IdeaPad family of devices. Except this time around, it doesn’t appear this will be a standard tablet. The device is the IdeaPad A10 and it appears to be a convertible notebook. Yes, an Android notebook. While we wait for an official announcement, there has been some sightings.

The IdeaPad A10 has been spotted on the Lenovo website — in the form of a service manual and user manual. There has also been a product listing spotted on the German language Amazon site. The listing has the IdeaPad A10 priced at EUR 249 (including VAT) and with mention of how it usually ships in 1 to 4 months. Simply put, signs are pointing towards an announcement coming sooner rather than later.

Specs for the notebook include a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. And as many will notice in the images, there is what appears to be a rather large bezel around that display. The IdeaPad A10 will be powered by a 1.6GHz Rockchip RK3188 processor with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM and options for 16GB or 32GB of storage space. There will also be a microSD card slot for additional storage.

Remaining specs look to include a pair of USB 2.0 ports, microUSB, stereo speakers, headphone jack, microphone, Bluetooth, WiFi and HDMI. The user manual also lists the notebook as having a SIM card slot. Along with the standard set of keys on the keyboard, there are also more than a handful of function keys listed for everything from volume control, to brightness, to shortcuts, search, screenshots and more.

Anyway, if you had been hoping to get a notebook like device running Android — it looks like Lenovo will soon have you covered. Aside from the Amazon Germany listing, we have yet to see which markets the IdeaPad A10 was expected to arrive in. But with that in mind, the service and user manuals are both written in english so that may point towards a US release.

Nexus 5 case teased by Spigen
Oct 9th 2013, 19:29, by Nate Swanner

As we await the Nexus 5 launch, Spigen has teased us with a sleek case for the upcoming device. With no further commentary on a launch date or availability, the Google+ posting showed only the top portion of the device and case.

Nexus 5 Spigen case

Their website lists the case as the "Neo Hybrid" for the Nexus 5, but mentioned nothing about the materials used for it. The familiar camera is shown, along with flash underneath. We can also see the volume rocker and power button assembly, hinting that the specs and pics we've seen are indeed accurate.

Spigen has done this with other desirable smartphone models, so this comes as no surprise they'd tease the Android world with pics like this one. While we've no reason to doubt the validity of the pics, we've also not seen or heard anything official, so we are cautiously optimistic.

The Nexus 5 is shaping up to be the Android phone to beat, with a Snapdragon 800 processor and full HD 5-inch screen. The 8MP camera will reportedly have OIS, and the device is also said to come with either 16 or 32GB of memory. Rummored to start at $299, this “Revolution” could be more like a feeding frenzy.

Interestingly enough, the Nexus 5 is also said to house two different sized batteries (which coincide with the memory size difference), but we're not sure if that means two different sized models or not. If it did, that could mean two different cases as well.
