HTC is in a deep, dark hole and it’s hard to tell whether they’ll be able to get out of it. What we do know is that it will be a long journey.
Either way, the company’s first step has to include making some major changes regarding the way they do things, because clearly, it’s not working— and that is exactly what they’re going to do.
HTC has come up with four phases (or sanctions put in place by investors… however you want to look at it) that it hopes will help fix their dismal sales numbers and miserable outlook:
1. Major executives and other high-up officials will be evaluated, and responsibilities will be “reshuffled”
2. Production will be outsourced due to high costs
3. MediaTek chips will be used in mid-range/entry-level devices to reduce costs without sacrificing too much quality
4. Focus on creating new partnerships and finding new customers in different markets, specifically with China Mobile
Only time will tell whether any of this actually works, but I suppose we can hope for the best for the struggling company.
