Google Play

Alleged screenshots showing the next version of the Google Play Store Android app have apparently hit the web, detailing some new features that are supposedly coming soon – possibly together with the official Android 4.4 KitKat launch.

Android Police has gotten its hands on the screenshots below, which reveal a complete redesign of the Play Store app in version 4.4.

The images are certainly interesting, as they highlight Google's continuous fine-tuning of its Play Store experience. A "'hamburger'-style slide-out navigation" is now present, making it easier to navigate through the store's various sections – the list includes Store home, My apps/movies & TV/etc, Shop, My Wishlist and Redeem.

That also means that the menu has now only two options available, Settings and Help.

The publication further notes that a more card-like design is coming to the user interface of the app in the future, with "UI transformations" being "akin to the latest Gmail update."

Google Play Store 4.4 will reportedly be compatible with devices running Android 2.2 and higher, and will be available "at the very minimum" together with KitKat – apparently it's in testing on devices running Android 4.4. An APK for Play Store 4.4 isn’t available to download at this time.

Naturally, this isn't confirmed news, so take it with the appropriate amount of salt, especially since the publication says this is the "work-in-progress UI from the next major update to the Play Store app for Android." Things can certainly change by the time the app becomes available.
