While the LG G2 won't become official until the 7th of August, LG has still managed to unveil a case for the much anticipated successor to the LG Optimus G (LG dropped the Optimus tag from its high-end devices).

LG has labelled the case/cover "QuickWindow" and it's one of those cases with a cover which flips over the screen. It also has a slot in the front cover that reveals a part of the screen to display messages, incoming calls, the weather, the time, an alarm, the music player or just the time.

Now if that sounds familiar it might be because Samsung unveiled almost exactly the same case for the Galaxy S4 called S-View cover. They both seem to work thanks to some nifty software which reformats the screen to the size of the slot and allows you to protect the front of the device, and still keep up with notifications, and answer phone calls without having to flip the cover flap over.

If you're already planning to buy the LG G2 and want to use an official accessory then you'll be happy to know that the QuickWindow case will be available in a multitude of colors like black, blue, mint, pink, purple, white and yellow.

The case isn't the only thing that's interesting about the G2 as it will feature a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a Full HD 5.2-inch display and a 2580 mAh battery. The smartphone will be unveiled in New York on the 7th of August so stay tuned for more coverage.

What do you think of the QuickWindow cover? Is it weird for an official case to come out before the phone is, erm, official?
