LG is bringing a sub-$100 Android phone to the low end market, the L1 II Aug 9th 2013, 18:12, by Brad Ward In addition to the L3 and L3 II, LG is bringing another smartphone to the low end market, the L1 II, a sub $100 Android powered phone. It’s specs are pretty much what you would expect them to be, too. Running a 3-inch 320 x 240 display, a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7225A (Snapdragon S1), 512 MB of RAM, a 2-megapixel rear shooter, and a 1,540 mAh battery, the L1 II is a decent performer for its price point. It has 3G connectivity, but nothing beyond that. As for the software, we’re looking at Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which brings Project Butter to the package, almost guaranteeing a smooth user experience. So where will we see this phone launch? Well, since Samsung’s Galaxy Pocket, Galaxy Young, and a few other Samsung devices can be found in a lot of stores in Europe and Asia, this is likely to be the case with LG’s L1 II. Aside from that, it’s not likely to launch in the U.S. It’s not clear when we’ll see the device launch, but it shouldn’t be long before we start seeing this little performer pop up in some places. Frankly, the L1 II is an interesting device, and it’s definitely in a position to compete with Samsung’s lower end offerings (e.g. Galaxy Young and Galaxy Pocket). Let’s just hope LG is successful with little devices like these.
