Move over EE, you're not the only game in town anymore! Starting August 29th, O2 will be launching its 4G network in the UK, at least for lucky users in London, Leeds and Bradford.
For those that don't live in either of these cities, no worries. O2 plans to get the ball rolling as soon as possible, extending to at least 13 additional cities by the year's end, including Birmingham, Glasgow, Nottingham and Manchester.
Now for the big question: how much will it cost?
While O2 has yet to get specific with the data rates, they have stated that pricing will big at £26 and will include a year of free music content. It still remains unseen whether O2's LTE plans will be more generous with data caps than EE – though we can certainly hope.
In order to utilize the new 4G LTE network you will obviously need a device compatible with the service. O2 plans to offer several new 4G devices, though several existing phones like the Galaxy S4 should already work without a hitch.
Not thrilled about the idea of using O2 or EE to get your LTE fix? O2 has confirmed it will be making 4G LTE available to Giffgaff and Tesco as well, though it will be up to these networks to decide what plans they will offer and whether or not to fully support it.
It's also worth noting that Vodafone hopes to get its own 4G LTE network up and running by the end of the summer.
