According to Murphy's law, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" – and how!

What happens if you are a Galaxy S4 Active owner and things go wrong when exposing your little darling to water? Unfortunately, conventional warranties don’t cover water damage. The good news is that AT&T and Samsung may soon be offering an exchange program for those that run into water-related trouble, at least if an unnamed tipster reporting to PhoneArena proves correct.

In order to give their customers extra piece of mind, AT&T looks to be teaming up with Samsung to replace damaged devices with new Galaxy S4 Active handsets. The only catch is that this is a one time deal – after that, you're on your own. The source claims that the details of this arrangement come from an internal menu over at AT&T, though no word on when the plan will go into effect.

So why are AT&T and Samsung offering the program so late into the game, when the phone has already been on sale for a while? It's hard to say for sure, though high-profile reports of water damage could certainly have urged AT&T to offer some kind of extra protection for the S4 Active in order to better protect the device’s reputation.

With word of the program now hitting the web, it’s probably only a matter of time before AT&T and/or Samsung confirms it, at least if the news really is more than just a rumor. In the meantime, it’s always a good idea to get some kind of insurance plan on your device, especially when you plan on regularly dunking your phone in liquids.
