LG G Pro Lite Dual tipped to arrive next month
Sep 30th 2013, 15:01, by Robert Nelson

LG has had the Optimus G Pro smartphone available for a while now, however judging from this latest leak it is looking another G Pro handset is getting ready to launch. The handset is the LG G Pro Lite Dual and a few images as well as some details in terms of specs have recently been spotted on the Russian language Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru site. And to clarify, LG is expected to release the G Pro Lite Dual in Europe.

The specs for this model look to include a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 and dual-core 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The handset is also expected to have an 8 megapixel camera on the back, microSD card slot, 3140 mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. As implied by this latest round of leaked images, the handset may also arrive with a stylus.

The Dual in the name also points towards another feature, the handset will have dual-SIM card support. Looking at the G Pro Lite Dual as compared to the non-lite G Pro and we find a drop in specs almost across the board. The G Pro as a Full HD display and quad-core 1.7GHz processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

In addition to the images and specs, there was also talk of the handset arriving in Russia sometime next month. There has yet to be anything given in terms of a specific launch date, however at present things are pointing towards a mid-October timeframe. Further details here show the price will be 12990 rubles, which is said to be the same price the Galaxy Grand Duos and Xperia C are selling for in Russia.

AT&T had previously opened pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Galaxy Note 3. Those who had moved forward with a pre-order for either of those devices can expect it to be shipped on October 1st. And coming by way of Twitter, AT&T has confirmed the in-store availability date for the Gear and Note 3.

In short, both of those devices will be available in-store and online as of October 4th. Given we have had the pre-orders opened, the pricing for both of these may sound familiar to some. The Galaxy Gear is priced at $299 and is available in black and/or white. The Galaxy Note 3 is also available in black or white, however the pricing will vary depending on the route you choose.

AT&T has the Galaxy Note 3 priced at $299.99 for those choosing the two-year agreement route. A month-to-month option brings a price of $724.99 and the AT&T Next pricing sits at $35 per month. And just to clarify, those going the Next pricing route will need to make 20 of those $35 payments.

That all being said, while there are some differences in the release dates, it does look like all the major US carriers will have the handset available in early October. T-Mobile had previously announced the release date as being October 2nd and Verizon is currently showing a ‘ships by’ date of October 10th.

Those curious about either device should make sure to scroll back through our hubs for the Galaxy Gear and Galaxy Note 3 as we have plenty of coverage since the original announcement — including some hands-on time with each of the devices.

MetroPCS has announced the availability of another smartphone. This latest is the LG Optimus F6 and it will be available with the carrier beginning today. The Optimus F6 sports a 4.5-inch (960 x 540) display, brings support for LTE and HSPA+ connectivity and will be available with a contract-free price of $199.99.

METROPCS LG OPTIMUS F6

Other specs for the Optimus F6 include Android 4.1 Jelly Bean along with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1.2GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot with support for cards up to 32GB in size and a 2460 mAh battery. As for the camera situation, the handset has a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front and 5 megapixel camera on the back. The rear-facing camera has auto-focus with an LED flash and is able to capture video at 1080p.

Aside from the hardware and Jelly Bean, those looking towards the Optimus F6 will also see some LG specific goodies. These include QuickMemo and QSlide Function. The former is just as the name would imply and will allow you to quickly and easily capture notes. The latter is a multitasking feature and means the user will be able to view multiple screens at the same time by adjusting the size and transparency.

Touching back on the camera, LG has the Optimus F6 equipped with features to include Time Catch Shot which means you will be able to select what you find to be the best shot (out of five available images), the ability to Pause and Resume within a single video and Voice Shutter which lets the user take a photo with a voice command.

As for the plans, MetroPCS pricing begins at $40 per month and climbs to $50 and $60. All three price levels include unlimited talk, text and data, however they each have varying amounts of high-speed data. The $40 option includes 500MB at high-speed, the $50 includes 2.5GB at high-speed and the $60 plan includes unlimited high-speed data. With that, those looking for the LG Optimus F6 will be able to find it online and in MetroPCS retail stores.

Motorola DVX images spotted in FCC filing
Sep 30th 2013, 13:40, by Robert Nelson

Motorola DVX rumors are getting fairly common at this point, however we have yet to see a solid set of specs. Up until this point in time the DVX chatter has focused on the handset being a low-cost alternative to the Moto X. To that point, Republic Wireless is expected to launch the Motorola DVX in October and we know they are already planning to sell the Moto X at a contract-free $299. Putting the low-cost talk to the side, as of today it looks like some images of the handset have been revealed.

dvx-fcc-01-540

An revised FCC filing for the Motorola DVX was spotted by Reddit user Danrant and while we have yet to see anything further in the way of specs — this filing did provide a few images of the handset. Simply put, it looks we now know what the front and back of the Motorola DVX will look like. And indeed, with a few minor exceptions, the handset does look like the Moto X.

In fact, the one noticeable difference is the speaker grill, which is now on the opposite side of the camera lens. Other details coming from this filing include mention of three model numbers and support for GSM and WCDMA. And just to clarify, there wasn’t anything in terms of LTE support mentioned.

dvx-fcc-02-540

Those three model numbers include the XT1032, XT1033 and XT1035. The filing does not mention any carriers, however given there are a few model numbers listed — that could lead one to believe the handset will arrive with multiple carriers. As mentioned, Republic Wireless is one of those carriers. Otherwise, aside from offering a look at the handset, the purpose of this filing was for hearing aid compatibility tests.

All said and done, we have yet to see anything from Motorola that would suggest an announcement is coming up, however given what we have seen from Republic Wireless we are going to be on the lookout for some news sooner rather than later.
