The case for the LG-made Nexus is getting stronger by the hour. Just today we reported that the confusion concerning the LG D820/821 codename is now a thing of the past, and now we get what appear to be actual images of the upcoming LG-made Nexus.
The images below were spotted by the folks at Phone Scoop in a set of documents that LG supplied to the FCC for a so-called "class 2 permissive change". In the filing, the Korean manufacturer asks for permission to change the position of the antennae and other hardware inside a Verizon LG G2 variant.
However, the images clearly do not represent a G2. The front of the mystery device bears a slight resemblance to the Nexus 4, while it's back matches the design of the device spotted at the KitKat statue inauguration last week.
To be clear, this is clearly not a retail unit and the final design will probably have a different finish. We can see though that the volume rocker and the power button are on the sides of the phone, unlike the G2, and also what appears to be a window of sort in the upper part of the device. That could be an IR blaster, but that's just speculation.
As a reminder, a device codenamed LG D820 was spotted last week in FCC's database, that the tech world has been speculating is the next Nexus. Featuring a 5-inch display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and stock Android, the LG-made device looks to be based on the G2 platform, as stated by earlier rumors out of Korea.
