With two days to go before the official unveiling, or rather, unpacking, of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at the company’s pre-IFA event, the leaks and rumors surrounding the device are coming in thick and fast. Previous leaks have given us some idea of what we can expect from the upcoming smartphone (check out our Galaxy Note 3 rumor roundup), but a lot of the information is still entirely based on speculation.
The specification everyone is most curious about is whether the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 or the octa-core Samsung Exynos 5420. While a leaked list of which country will receive which version of the device gave us a better idea, today, we’ve received apparent confirmation that the Snapdragon 800 version will ship in South Korea.
According to a leaked slide from a press conference about the company’s LTE-A network, held by South Korean mobile carrier KT Corporation, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor in the country. This isn’t really surprising, since the Qualcomm chipset is the only one that currently supports LTE-A networks.
By that logic, we can expect any countries that have LTE networks to receive the Qualcomm version of the device. The division of versions could be along the same lines as that of the Samsung Galaxy S4, if Samsung hasn’t run into production issues with the Exynos 5420 as previously rumored. We’ll just have to wait till the official announcement to find out which regions will receive which versions of the device.
