Pinterest homescreen widget makes its way exclusively to Telefonica
Oct 11th 2013, 02:56, by Juan Carlos Torres

Knowing that there is a growing need among its users for quick and easy discovery and pinning of things they love, Pinterest has finally released a homescreen widget for Android. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, the company has signed an exclusive deal with Telefonica, meaning that it will only be available to subscribers of its networks.

Pinterest is part social networking service and part mood board. Users get to post images things they like, pin posts from others on their own board, follow posts or people based on themes, and the like. According to Pinterest, the service has experienced an exponential growth of 130 percent since January in Latin America and the UK, which has probably prompted it to give special, and exclusive, attention to the these markets.

With the new Pinterest Android widget, users will be able to view feeds, both their own and the most popular posts, allowing them to pin items directly from their homescreen without having to open the app itself. Pinterest has chosen Telefonica to be its exclusive partner for distributing the widget to subscribers on its various networks which includes O2, Vivo, and Movistar.

O2 customers in the UK will be the first to enjoy the new Pinterest widget by downloading it from Google Play Store. O2 UK will start preloading the widget on its mobile devices in the weeks to come, with other Telefonica territories soon to follow.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Hello Kitty Edition coming soon
Oct 11th 2013, 02:20, by Juan Carlos Torres

Who says gadgets and devices can’t be both functional and cute at the same time? Definitely not Samsung, as it is trying to reel in that part of the population that has a profound love for the feline celebrity known as Hello Kitty.

Joining the likes of HTC who also recently launched its own pink-themed Butterfly S in Taiwan, Samsung is reported to have a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 variant ready, sporting Hello Kitty’s branding all over. The smallest Tab 3 tablet was announced in April this year and possesses mid-range hardware. It has a dual-core Exynos 4 CPU running at 1.2 GHz, a 7-inch display with 1024×600 resolution, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It’s definitely no Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HD, but is somewhat decent nonetheless.

This is not the first time Samsung has put on a new costume for the 7-inch tablet. In August, the company announced the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids specifically for, you guessed it, children. It’s doing it again, but this time probably with some grownups in tow. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Hello Kitty Edition will be showcasing Hello Kitty’s iconic face on the back cover of the device as well as on the home button on the front. It will also come preinstalled with a collection of Hello Kitty-themed wallpapers. Unlike the HTC Butterfly S, however, no other accessories seem to be available.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Hello Kitty Edition is expected to be unveiled around the end of October is price at 229 euros or around $310. For now, it seems that it will only be available on the WiFi variant of the device.

Case-Mate Style Box trial program launched
Oct 11th 2013, 01:47, by Juan Carlos Torres

Ever experienced that moment when you saw a beautiful smartphone accessory online but wasn’t sure if it would actually look good in reality? Case-Mate is apparently quite familiar with the situation, enough to start its Style Box risk-free trial program that will let customers try out their wares and return those that they don’t like.

CASE-MATE STYLEBOX

Case-Mate is a company whose name has been associated with fashionable accessories. And when it comes to luxury items such as these, one doesn’t really want to risk picking out a smartphone case that ends up clashing with everything else you own. Rather than going through the painstaking process of exchanging cases again and again until you find the one that you like, Case-Mate has chosen a more convenient option. Customers will be able to buy from a collection of Style Boxes and select those that they want. Does that they don’t fancy they can send back, free of charge.

Case-Mate is offering four Style Boxes revolving around a specific theme or personality type. The Ansley Style Box includes jewelry-inspired cases that sparkle and shine. The Inman Style Box, on the other hand, aims for a more contemporary look, with lavish materials and hand-painted designs. Those who prefer a more casual appearance can opt for the Habersham Style Box while the Ponce Style Box contains cases that more fashion-conscious owners would love.

Currently, the Style Boxes are only available for the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S 4, open to the US only. Prices start from $35 and can reach up to $150, but discount incentives are given for buyers who end up keeping more cases.
