MuseMini DBoom speaker review
Oct 10th 2013, 22:17, by Scott Webster

dboom_blueUp for review today is the new DBoom speaker from MuseMini. This portable guy not only connects via 3.5mm input and Bluetooth, but it also allows for NFC pairing. Should have a smartphone with NFC capabilities you’ll find that it’s a breeze to power on and connect to the DBoom. As you’d expect, this is a set-it-once-and-forget-it way of going about things.

Available in five color options (we tested the blue), the DBoom can deliver up to 20 hours of music at 50% volume level. In our playing with the device over the span of a few weeks we found that average use gave us around 8-10 hours per charge.

Have a few members in your family? Scoop up a couple of these and daisy-chain them together for parties and social gatherings. Not as if you would do it, but you can connect up to 100 together via input/output.

Charging is done via microUSB so any cord you have lying around the house or office will suffice. Traveling? Juice up on the way to the beach or backyard barbecue.

When it comes to sound, the DBoom is both loud and clear. You’ll not get the deep bass that plays well with electronic or dubstep music but podcasts, pop music, and other audio works well. Speaking of which, you can use the DBoom for speakerphone purposes.  There’s actually a noise canceling microphone in the speaker to ensure you sound clear to those on the other end.

Looking ahead, the DBoom will offer a form fitting and customizable skin voucher in each box. With a library of more than 1,000 designs you’ll have plenty to choose from. Don’t see one you like? Upload and creat! your own! Valued at $20, this will be included with each speaker.

In the Box:

  • Instruction Manual
  • 1 Custom Carry Bag
  • 1 Audio Cord – 3.5mm
  • 1 Micro USB Charger Cord

Pricing was initially listed at $129.95 which we found to be a little higher than we were willing to pay. Currently listed at $99.99 on the MuseMini website, it’s a little closer to what we expect. Once the free skin is tossed in the bundle, we say jump all over it.
