Dell Wyse Cloud Connect Android USB stick spotted in FCC filing
Oct 21st 2013, 14:37, by Robert Nelson

Dell first brought mentioned Project Ophelia back in January, during CES. We learned some of the basics at the time, such as how this would be a ‘computer on a stick’ and how it would be running Android. The device then briefly turned up over the summer and now it looks like an FCC filing has been discovered.

The filing has this pegged as the Wyse Cloud Connect, however we may still have a few months before any official information gets released. The Dell World 2013 event is set to take place in December, running from the 11th through the 13th. Coming by way of the Dell World event site, there is mention of being able to get hands-on with the Wyse Cloud Connect, AKA, Project Ophelia.

This mention then goes on to describe the Wyse as a “USB tool that fits in your pocket and turns practically any display into a personal computer.” Based on this, it seems Project Ophelia is a bit more about having access to a computer while on-the-go — as opposed to this being a streaming stick similar to the Chromecast.

Shifting back to the filing and unfortunately we aren’t learning anything else in terms of the software. What the filing has done is offer quite a few images as well as some details on the hardware. For example, the FCC points towards the Wyse as having a microSD card slot, mini USB 2.0 and micro USB OTG port/power as well as WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth and an MHL-compatible HDMI port.

HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean UK update "3-5 weeks" out
Oct 21st 2013, 14:01, by Robert Nelson

The HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has been making the rounds through the US carriers, but it looks like those in the UK still have some time to wait. There has yet to be a firm date or timeline revealed, however HTC UK has recently offered a bit of an update on Twitter. In short, it may be upwards of 5 weeks before the updates arrives.

The details were posted on the official @HTC_UK Twitter account where they mention how they are “expecting to release Jelly Bean 4.3 update in the UK in 3-5 weeks.” We suspect those carrying an HTC One are going to hope the update arrives in three weeks, but either way, it look like the update is not going to be arriving until sometime on November.

While the majority of Android users continue using ‘older’ versions of Android, this update could sting a bit as it is looking like Android 4.4 Kit Kat will be out by the time this 4.3 Jelly Bean update arrives. Needless to say, 4.3 is still a solid update and one that will likely make those still sporting 4.1, 4.2 or something even older a bit jealous.

Looking back outside of the UK and this update should be arriving for T-Mobile users today. HTC America president Jason Mackenzie shared some details last week saying the update had seen a small delay, but would be arriving on October 21st. And otherwise, that still leaves Verizon Wireless users waiting, though, previous talk from HTC had said 4.3 should arrive for all US carriers by the end of October.

Hangouts for Android update coming 'soon'
Oct 21st 2013, 13:27, by Robert Nelson

Google rolled out an update for Hangouts on iOS late last week. This one arrived Friday evening and it added voice calling with Google Voice integration. Basically, iOS users can now send and receive Google Voice calls through the Hangouts app. And topping that, this all works over WiFi. But while this news seems to have upset plenty of Android users, there will be an update coming.

There hasn’t been a specific timeline given. Nor has there been a clear list of what will be coming in the update, however Vic Gundotra has taken to the comments of his Google+ page to let Android users know they have not been forgotten with mention of how you will “be happy soon.” His full comment reads as follows;

“Guys, don’t worry. We have massive investment in Android. I promise you will be happy soon. Don’t get upset because we show some love to Google users who use iOS. There are a lot of them. And they are good people”

As you can see, aside from the promise of an Android update, he also tried to diffuse the fighting between Android and iOS. That being said, we suspect the soon will be when Kit Kat is announced. Well, when Kit Kat is detailed along with the introduction of the Nexus 5. Which brings us to the next topic that we are expecting to happen soon.

Google did send out an event invite last week, however that doesn’t appear as if it will be hardware focused. Simply put, it looks like we are still on the lookout for a Kit Kat event announcement. And in the meantime, the latest rumors have that happening sometime before the end of the month.
