Screen Recording feature coming to CyanogenMod (video demo)
Oct 21st 2013, 00:09, by Chris Smith

CyanogenMod developer Koushik "Koush" Dutta has demoed in a new video a new feature coming to the custom ROM: screen recording.

The app will let anyone interested in capturing on video the action on the screen of their Android smartphones and tablets as it happens. And there's support for audio as well, as you can see in the video above.

By simultaneously pressing volume up and the power button, users will be able to record the screen of their devices. As you can see in the demo video, they'll have the option of showing the movement of the finger on the display as well.

The status of the recording will be shown in the notification area, from where users will be able to stop it. That’s also where users will enable and disable the touch action.

The feature is certainly useful for anyone interested in showing off certain app features and/or bugs directly on the phone – therefore developers will certainly be interested in this one – but regular users will also be able to record their displays when using certain apps.

The app will be available in CyanogenMod "soon," but Koush did not specify when that will happen exactly.

In case you were wondering, this one will not be available as a standalone app for Android, so you'll have to run a CyanogenMod edition ROM on your device to enjoy the Screen Recording feature.
