Samsung eyeing new acquisitions to help bolster services
Oct 8th 2013, 19:01, by Scott Webster

Samsung is looking to scoop up a company or two to help bolster its portfolio of services and features, reports the Wall Street Journal. After losing out on Waze to Google, Samsung has shifted its focus to other platforms and technologies to help keep them ahead of the competition. Among the companies listed as having caught their eye are Glympse, Rounds, Green Throttle Games, Unity Technologies, and Everything.me.

Samsung declined to comment on its acquisition plans—but it has made no secret of what it calls its “embracing the culture of Silicon Valley.”

Some of the discussions and interest date back to early 2012; all of them could make for even more compelling mobile experiences. Remember, Samsung not only accounts for much of the Android landscape but they are also in the process of building out their own platform, Tizen.
