Xiaomi says first 100,000 MI3 smartphones sell at rate well over 1,000 per second Oct 16th 2013, 01:28, by Jeff Causey Chinese phone maker Xiaomi continues to garner interest from industry watchers and their latest tweet will be sure to keep people’s eyes from wandering too far. According to the company, when it was selling its new MI3 smartphones on Monday night, 100,000 devices sold in a span of just one minute and 29 seconds. That is a rate just over 1,123 units per second. The MI3 smartphone was not the only device popular with buyers. Xiaomi’s supply of MITV set-top boxes, 3,000 total, sold out in just under two minutes. In the past, Xiaomi has sold out batches of 300,000 smartphones in only five minutes.
