Motorola is promising Android KitKat for all Moto G users by the end of January. Some won't even have to wait for an OTA update, though. According to Motorola's Mark Randal, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Operations, the Moto G's staggered rollout provides the company a chance to tinker with the software version handsets will run out of the box. Regions getting the G after Christmas will see the device ship with Google's latest mobile platform update, Android 4.4 KitKat.

This "Wave 2" rollout includes the United States and Southeast Asia. Regions that were part of "Wave 1" (Europe, Canada, Latin America, and some Asian countries) did not see the Moto G ship with KitKat initially, but the update should begin arriving around the time that Wave 2 devices begin reaching shelves, which fits in with Motorola's initial timeline.

The Moto G is an affordable handset that might be considered a budget version of the Moto X. Available below $200 on contract, the phone features a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, and 1GB RAM.
