Archos introduces wallet-friendly trio of ‘Platinum’ Android tablets Posted: 14 Feb 2013 02:02 PM PST Archos today introduced a threesome of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet known as the Platinum series. Available in 8-inch, 9.7-inch and 11.6-inch options, each comes with high definition IPS displays, quad-core processors, and 2GB RAM. Additional details include front-HDMI, microSD ports, Google Play support, and dual-cameras. The ARCHOS 80 Platinum, an 8" tablet, features a 1024×768 resolution IPS screen and when compared to the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 it is almost twice as fast, has double the RAM and has a back camera for a fraction of the cost. The 80 Platinum will be available in February for $199. The ARCHOS 97 Platinum HD, a 9.7" tablet, features a stunning 2048×1536 resolution IPS screen, which is comparable to the Retina display found in the iPad, but is 40% less expensive. The 97 Platinum HD will be available in February for $299. The ARCHOS 116 Platinum, an 11.6" tablet, features a 1920×1080 resolution IPS screen, unlike anything currently on the market. Due in theaters on June 7, the film finds the duo applying for internships at Google after losing their current jobs. HTC One will cost $199.99 with contract, source indicates Posted: 14 Feb 2013 07:18 AM PST One of the final pieces of the HTC One puzzle has just fallen into place: the price. According to our friends over at HTC Source, the 32GB version of the upcoming smartphone will run $199.99 with a two-year service agreement at T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T.  Want more storage? Grab the 64GB version for $299.99 with a contract. Additional details confirmed in this 11th hour include that the HTC One will come with two color options: a white and silver model and black. The handset will also feature metal casing and front-facing stereo speakers Those early images of the soft-touch black HTC M7 were allegedly pre-production test units. For those wondering when they can get their hands on the HTC One, you’re advised to circle March 22nd on your calendar.  That’s the date, according to the trusted tipster. Where’s Verizon’s HTC One? Looks like we’ll be waiting for the refreshed version of the HTC Droid DNA. Samsung shooting for 100 million Galaxy S4 sales Posted: 14 Feb 2013 06:56 AM PST Samsung has very high expectations for the upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S4. How high? Oh, let’s say “100 million sales” high.  In a note to clients today, Jefferies & Company analyst Peter Misek indicates that Samsung anticipates building 100 million units of the Android smartphone. For a point of reference, the Galaxy S III is expected to end up around the 60 million mark.  In other words, be on the lookout for a ton of Galaxy S4.
