More news from the folks over at SamMobile indicates Samsung’s Project J actually constitutes three devices. According to previous reports, Project J was the code name for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV. Over the past few months as we have watched for information about Samsung’s successor to the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone, we have seen the Galaxy S IV referred to as Project J, Altius and by the model number GT-I9500. The assumption has been that Project J referred to that one device, the Galaxy S IV. Based on upcoming accessories, SamMobile now reports the code name actually refers to three devices.
The other devices that are believed to be part of Project J include the Project J Mini otherwise known as Serrano and the Project J Active or Fortius. The Serrano device is believe to be a smaller, perhaps less powerful version of the Galaxy S IV, following in the footsteps of the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. The Fortius appears to be some type of semi-wearable or rugged device as the accessories include things like an Arm Band, a Bike Mount, and a Pouch. Listed below are the accessories for each of the devices that have been discovered by SamMobile:
Project J Altius:
  • Clear Cover
  • Flip Cover
  • Protective Cover
  • Pouch
  • Extra Battery Kit
  • Battery 2600 mah
  • Wireless Charging Kit
  • HDTV Adapter
  • Headset
Project J Mini Serrano:
  • Clear Cover
  • Flip Cover
  • Protective Cover
Project J Active Fortius:
  • Arm Band
  • Bike Mount
  • Pouch
If accurate, and these three devices make up Project J, that leaves a couple more devices in the pipeline as well based on previous reports. Those include a large, 13.3-inch tablet device with a full QWERTY keyboard dock and a lightweight version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II with more modest hardware.

david_eun_Apple_lawsuits_Loss_of_innovation

It’s no secret that many of us believe that Apple’s ongoing attack against Samsung is a waste of time and is shameful to say the least, but the ongoing attack can be considered as something even worse. While speaking at the opening night of D:Dive Into Media 2013, Samsung EVP David Eun did not dabble into specifics regarding the continuing litigations that are a waste of time, money and resources— but rather he made it very clear that the ongoing dispute is “a loss” for innovation and more importantly— us, the consumer. So it’s pretty cool finally hearing something that we can all agree upon from such a high-ranking official at Samsung.
Hopefully Apple will realize sooner than later that it’s probably not worth it to keep going on with the petty and meaningless battle.

BlueStacks_Logo_Vertical
BlueStacks, the mobile software company that helps you run Android apps on Windows 7 and Mac OSX devices, announced a new version today that includes support for Surface Pro devices and Windows 8. BlueStacks is available as a free download which new Windows 8 and Surface Pro users can get from a new site: GetYourAppsBack.com. BlueStacks reports they have recorded 5 million downloads of their software just from their site. They have also been working hard to develop OEM partnerships, like they recently announced with Lenovo, which has yielded  download numbers “as strong or stronger” than from their own site.
Once installed, Windows 8 and Surface Pro users can install apps from their phone and run them fullscreen with full touch-enabled capability. Check out the video and full press release after the break.

BlueStacks Releases Surface Pro-Optimized Version of "App Player"

Announces GetYourAppsBack.com to fill widening Win8 App Gap
Campbell, CA  February 12, 2013 – Mobile company BlueStacks today released a Surface Pro-optimized, officially supported Windows 8 version of its popular App Player software. The program is free to download and can run any Android app on the new Surface Pro. BlueStacks also announced a new site: GetYourAppsBack.com where new Windows 8 and Surface Pro users can download BlueStacks' software and bring any mobile apps to their device. Recently, Google launched a Get Your Google Back video campaign that BlueStacks is paying homage to.
"We've had our users asking for a Win8 version for a long time," said BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma. "Now that it's finally available on our website we're looking forward to getting feedback and building on the experience. The number of mobile apps being written overall is expanding exponentially and Microsoft has not added apps to the handful it has. Our goal is to get people more value out of their Surface Pro and Win8 devices."
Having announced several OEM partnerships in recent months, BlueStacks also recently passed 5 million downloads of its mobile software across Mac and PC. The downloads all came from the company's homepage, BlueStacks.com. Additional download numbers via OEM partnerships have not been released, though the company says they are healthy. "The response in the OEM community has been as strong or stronger than the surprising numbers we've been seeing from organic downloads," said BlueStacks head of Global Sales and Strategic Alliances, Apu Kumar. "We seem to have reached a tipping point where we've brought mobile apps to so many computers worldwide, the remaining OEM's customers are asking for these apps also. We're the perfect conduit to get popular programs back on the PC."
The company's site at GetYourAppsBack.com allows new Surface Pro and Win8 PC owners to get apps from their phone and any additional apps they want into their Win8 PC, running them fullscreen and touch-enabled. The site went live today.

LG is following suit with Android’s most successful manufacturer, Samsung, they’re going big. LG confirmed the the Optimus G Pro for South Korea will come with a 5.5-inch full HD screen. As expected, this Galaxy Note II-sized device will beat the Galaxy S IV to market. This larger variant sounds like the one we expect announced at Mobile World Congress. If ginormous phones are your cup of tea, you’ll want to keep a close eye on our MWC coverage.
At this point the Optimus G Pro’s main advantage over its Samsung counterparts is its full 1080p screen but the rest of its specs are nothing to scoff at. It has a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD slot, LTE connectivity and a nice 3,140 mAh battery. The South Korean version is, but for its half-inch larger screen, identical to the Japanese version.

Think you have the ultimate smartphone? Well famed smartphone manufactuer Vertu wants Android fanatics to think again about what the ultimate smartphone is thanks to its newly unveiled Ti smartphone. This impressive jewel is all luxury on the outside, but pure business on the inside. The device utilizes a special sapphire and titanium casing on the outside which houses the Ti’s 3.7-inch WVGA screen which is complimented by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8MP camera with full 1080p video recording, 64GB of on-board storage and a heaping scoop of Ice Cream Sandwich. Oh and best of all— Vertu is even tossing in complimentary Key feature which acts as a concierge service where a live customer service support team will be available 24/7 to answer questions or address issues for whatever it is you may need.
Naturally this impressive luxury package will come at a king’s ransom— Vertu is listing the Ti smartphone for a whopping $10,000 at this time. It’s no doubt a bit excessive, but we’re sure that there’s a couple of you out there who wouldn’t mind having a new sapphire and titanium-encrusted toy to play with.

GLBenchmark_Samsung_SHV-E200S
The rumor mill for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV is only beginning folks. Today’s update comes from the GLBenchmark database where a Korean variant (SHV-E300S) appeared. We find that a lot of devices show up in the GLBenchmark database, and although we aren’t able to get the full scoop, there is usually some relevant information available.
The first bit of information is about the processor. Most of us were hoping for the new Exynos 5 Octa that was introduced at CES. Unfortunately that won’t be the case, at least for this model. It appears to be a quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro clocked at 1.9GHz (with an Adreno 320 GPU), which is very surprising. Let me reiterate that this is one variant and doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be other Galaxy S IV variants with the Exynos 5. On the flip side, it should also be noted that the phone appears to be one of the fastest with 41.3 fps in offscreen speed and 39.4 fps in onscreen speed.

The second bit of information is not surprising as it boasts a 1080p (1920 x 1080) display. The screen size is unknown, but I think all money is on 5-inches. The last bit of information is the version of Android, which is 4.2.1 and nothing unusual.

Android_4.2.2_Update_Galaxy_Nexus
Last night, Google started pushing Android 4.2.2 (JDQ39) to the GSM Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. Unfortunately a lot of people are still waiting for the update to hit their devices, but if you have the takju Galaxy Nexus (The one bought from the Play Store), then you can download the Zip file and update it yourself. Again, we don’t have the changelog, but we are pretty sure that this update will at least fix the known Bluetooth streaming bug, among other things.

In order to do the update your device needs to be running build JOP40D. If you already have a custom recovery, you can just download the Zip file {linked below), copy it to your device, and flash. If you’re running the stock recovery, then download the Zip file (linked below), but leave it on your computer and follow these instructions:
You will need the latest version of adb in order to proceed. Just download the latest Android SDK to make sure you’re up to date.
  1. Power off your takju Galaxy Nexus, and power back on by holding the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons while it boots.
  2. The fastboot menu should appear and you should see “Start” in the top right. Press Volume Up till it changes to “Recovery.” Press the Power button to select it.
  3. You will see an Android with a red exclamation point icon, press Volume Up and the Power button at the same time.
  4. You will get a new menu and you can navigate to “apply update from adb.”
  5. Now it’s time to connect your takju Galaxy Nexus to your computer via a USB cable
  6. Open the command prompt in Windows (cmd in Windows, regular shell in Linux and Mac) and navigate to the directory that the Zip file is located in.
  7. Type: adb sideload 472aafeb9fe3.signed-takju-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.472aafeb.zip
  8. The update will install and reach 100%.
  9. Reboot and enjoy Android 4.2.2
