The AOKP developers have released a new version of their Jelly Bean 4.2 work. This latest release includes support for the Acer Iconia Tab A510, T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II, and the international version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The build originally included support for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, both the Exynos and OMAP versions, but those have been temporarily pulled. AOKP indicates they should have new builds for those devices available on February 12th.
This latest version includes several new features like a UI mode selector with options for phone, “phablet” and tablet and transparency control for all UI elements. The UI can now support dual panel at any DPI setting and the Car Home function is back. AOKP has re-introduced a quick unlock feature on the lock screen so the Enter key does not have to be tapped once you enter a PIN or password. For minimalists out there, a hidden NavBar option is now available. The Statusbar now has a LastApp toggle.
If you are interested in trying out AOKP, hit the source link for more information on how to grab it.

Nexus_4_Wireless_Charging_Orb

In case you weren’t familiar, the Nexus 4 smartphone arrived with full wireless charging capabilities— but unfortunately, there weren’t many options available to utilize and take advantage of the awesome feature… until now. Google has (finally) broken down and listed its wireless charging orb as available on the Play Store for a fairly modest $59.99 listing price. The neat thing is that the device is fairly small— coming in at a mere 130 grams, so the device is fairly small in size and won’t need to take up too much space.
Now only if only Google could solve those Nexus 4 shipping woes, we’d be in business.

Radioshack_Nexus_7_Promotion

So what is “RARMNJ1320″ exactly? Well “RARMNJ1320″ is the magic code word  that will get you a 32GB Nexus 7 from RadioShack for just $229. For a limited time, RadioShack is selling the Google flagship tablet for $27 cheaper than what you can get it for from Google themselves who charge $249. On top of this, RadioShack is giving free shipping on the device, while Google usually charges $14 to ship. Added together, that’s a savings of $41 for the 7-inch tablet.
Once you’ve selected your tablet and have gone through the process of adding it to your cart, then you will enter the code word for the deal. Please note that in order to cash in on this deal, you’ll need to type out the entire code word and not simply copy and paste it, otherwise it will not work. The Nexus 7 combines portability and performance in a sleek device and for $229, this is a really great deal. If you haven’t already, check out the source for this incredible deal and lets us know how you’re enjoying your new Nexus 7.

Samsung_Qi_Charging_Stand_FCC
Samsung looks to be attempting to retain dominance in the tech industry and this time it’s in the area of wireless charging. As you might remember from CES, Qualcomm is a big partner with the Alliance For Wireless Power (A4WP), which hopes to debut a newer wireless technology utilizing Bluetooth. Surprisingly, this new device doesn’t utilize it, but instead it uses one of the current standards Qi.  Speculated as a preparation for a wide release, Samsung has brought this charging plate to the FCC where they have torn down the device. Underneath the top plate lies powerful technology including an electromagnet powering the device. The FCC provided teardown images of which you can find after the break.

Wipeout_Android_3

Let’s face it— most of us secretly enjoy watching all those faceplants, falls and general slip-ups found on the classic TV show Wipeout, but you been itching for a chance to partake in that type of competitive glory? Well famed game publisher Activision is giving us the chance to live out our wildest dreams by unleashing the Wipeout Android game to the masses. Just like in the real-life gameshow, the premise of the game is for players to go through a gauntlet of obstacles with the end goal of not necessarily to complete them— but to wipeout as best as you possibly can. The great thing about this is users get style points for different wipeouts— so if you have a sick wipeout, players won’t be made fun of like in real life— but rather they will be praised for taking the wipeout like a champ and looking cool while doing it! In addition to having different obstacles like the classic Topple Towers, the game also features some cool replay modes like the ability to re-run wipeouts in slow motion and the ability to compete against friends and earn achievements— giving the game some pretty solid longevity.
The game is available now for all Gingerbread+ devices for $1.99, so if you’re ready to try out a different type of cool action– hit the break to grab the game today.

 Paranoid Android 3

One of the real hidden gems in the ROM community has just been updated to become one of the best apps imaginable. For those of you not familiar, Paranoid distinguishes itself from other custom ROMs because of its “Hybrid Engine”, which allows users to select both dpi and layout on a for each app available on a device—- meaning that instead of users being forced to modify the look of the device UI, users can instead optimize various apps to what works best for each one. While the concept of the app is certainly cool, everyone knows that there is always room for improvement and the developers have certainly delivered. The new Paranoid Android build includes the release of the PIE control system which allows users to disable onscreen buttons and instead, utilize a swipe gesture to access various common functions— giving users some extra screen & display to use. Oh and for you Nexus 4 users: there is a special screen calibration feature available which allows users to greatly optimize the display and allowing for all that content to be displayed with some extra pop.
As of now, this ROM looks like it’s only meant for Nexus users— so if you’re an owner of the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 or Nexus 10— the new ROM is ready and waiting to be used by you today. Hit the break to check out one (or all) of the source links to get additional info and grab yourselves the ROM— but be sure check out a few of the videos highlighting Paranoid’s neat features first.

Google_Now_Translate
Google aired a new commercial last night during the Grammys and the theme was Google Now and how useful it is in everyday life. The commercial shows how Google Now can help us know what the weather will be like, train/subway schedules, and language translations. Of course this is a Google commercial so they had to throw in a Google+ Hangout at the end of the commercial. The Nexus 4 was used in all the clips, but it’s not highlighted until the end. Hit the break for the 60 second clip.

htc_one_leaked_press_render
@evleaks is at it again. They have a pretty good track record and I am assuming that will continue with their latest leak, a press render of the HTC One. We already reported last week that it will be the official name of the M7, but forget names, what does it look like? There’s a good chance that it will look just like the above image.
Now we had seen a leaked image of the said device last month, and if you remember, the buttons were switched up. Instead of having from left to right, back/home/multitasking, the previous image had from left to right, back/multitasking/home. I still can’t understand why HTC would do that, but the same theme continues with this image, but the htc logo is in place of the multitasking button, which is even more bizarre.  Other than that, there isn’t much more to say other than this image appears to be the second color option and the newer clock widget is prominent as opposed to their classic flip clock.
I’m pretty sure we will see another leak or two before next Tuesday’s big announcement, so stay tuned!!

Lockscreen_Notifications_App_for_Jelly_Bean_02
In today’s world of tablets, smartphones and “phablets”, the lock screen is probably one of the single most viewed elements of any device. Recently with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Google added the ability to have widgets on your lock screen which brought the usefulness and importance of the lock screen to a new level. One thing that has been oddly left out of the Android feature list is the ability to view notifications on your screen. However thanks to XDA member Roymam there’s an app for that.

“Lock Screen Notifications Widget” was recently featured on the XDA Developers website and for good reason. This app allows for notifications to be seen and handled from the lock screen itself. Note that this app is intended for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean devices but has also been reported to work on several devices lower than 4.2 with the use of WidgetLocker which can be found in the Google Play store for $2.99. You can grab the APK here and instructions for how to get the widget working on your device can be found in the source link below.
Let us know what you think of the app in the comments below.

LG_Optimus_L3_II_Leak_01
We already know LG will be unveiling a few phones at MWC, and it looks like three of those bad boys will be the L7 II, L5 II, and L3 II. It was about this time last year when the first versions of the L Series were unveiled, and they might not have been the most popular phones in the land, but 10 million units sold isn’t too shabby. Fast forward a year and the second versions are ready to take on the world. Hit the break to get the scoop.

Optimus L7 II
The Optimus L7 II will be the flagship of the trio and will sport a 4.3-inch (800 x 480) display, a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 CPU, an Adreno 203 GPU, 768MB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2,460mAh battery, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. A dual-SIM version could possibly be announced as well. As I mentioned it’s the flagship of the trio, but not an overall flagship by any means.
Optimus L5 II
The middle of the road Optimus L5 II will sport a 4-inch (800 x 480) display, a 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU, a PowerVR SGX531 GPU, and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Just like the L7, a dual-SIM version could be announced as well.
Optimus L3 II (pictured above)
At the bottom we have the Optimus L3 II, which will get an improved IPS display, a 1GHz CPU, a 5MP (up from 3.2MP) rear camera, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
